Summary

The Senior Accountant will have responsibility for assisting with NAES monthly financial closings and analysis; including posting of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation; and performing variance and general ledger account analysis.

Primary Duties

Prepare journal entries relating to operating expenditures. Responsible for monthly accounting close for Power Services & Renewables business segments: Prepare accrued and adjusting general journal entries for month-end closing, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned business units and departments Classify expense and revenue according to departmental Prepare and analyze financial closing packages and reconcile to general ledger. Perform general ledger analysis of account activities and resolve any discrepancies. Prepare standalone financial statements for the applicable Power Services & Renewables business segments. Serve as point of contact for General Managers, Operations Directors, Project Managers, etc. for project accounting management, and/or issue resolution. Prepare Balance Sheet reconciles, investigating and resolving discrepancies, as needed Assist with the ad hoc financial reports and analysis Client collaboration to verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable, as Write and update detailed desk procedures Assist with internal and external audit processes, as Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the accounting Perform other duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

Determines own practices and procedures, contributing to the development of new concepts. Performs duties independently with only general direction given. Decisions are made within prescribed operating guidelines. Informally makes recommendations concerning long-range planning. Job encounters recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm, involving a moderate degree of complexity. Errors in work could affect the validity and timeliness of financial statements and reports.

Contacts are normally made with others inside and outside the company including other departments, immediate associates, and own supervisor. Contacts are normally made on own initiative requiring explanation, discussion, interpretation, or approvals.

Working Relationships

The Senior Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller and interacts frequently with others within the Power Services Finance group.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education and/or experience At least five years accounting experience with a strong emphasis on general ledger and accounts receivable. Exposure to payroll, accounts payable, and project accounting Excellent analytical, organizational and communication High degree of proficiency in computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and accounting systems. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Specific Skills and Knowledge

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Normal working hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional time may be required during periods of high workload or major projects.

Fit for Duty

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
