Sr Accounting Manager, Controller, eero
Description Wifi is the foundation of the modern home. Without it, nothing works. eero, an Amazon company, is the first company to deliver a whole home WiFi experience using mesh technology, ensuring there isn’t a home layout or connected device we can’t handle. Fixing connectivity is, however, just the start. We’re working on the building blocks of the smart home by designing our own hardware, enabling it with powerful software, and tying it all together to the cloud. Amazon has an immediate position open for a Senior Accounting Manager to lead the eero accounting team. This role will report directly to the Finance Director, eero CFO and will have responsibility for supporting all parts of our financial reporting process with a heavy emphasis on providing technical accounting guidance to the organization on commercial revenue contracts. We’re looking for a strong accounting leader and people manager who demonstrates good judgment and ensures the right decisions are reached. This role will lead and guide a team who is responsible for ensuring accuracy of financial statements, compliance with GAAP and local accounting standards, and developing and maintaining scalable management controls and processes. Experience with technical accounting research and position paper writing will also be a requirement of this position. The candidate will have extensive technical accounting knowledge of ASC 606, ideally in a SaaS and/or B2B hardware sales environment and is comfortable performing review of non-standard, complex contracts and determining accounting treatment. We are currently looking for candidates who are at the senior manager level. Many of our candidates for this position will also have held similar positions in larger public companies or who have held a senior manager level position with a Big 4 public accounting firm serving Fortune 500 clients for 2 or more years. Candidates for this position may have held controller or accounting director positions in public or private companies. Demonstrated experience in leading teams to accomplish unusually complex challenges will be expected as this is an ongoing requirement for this position. Key job responsibilities - Manage and develop a high performing team of accounting professionals - Provide technical accounting guidance to the eero business, including research and interpretation of accounting standards, preparation of accounting memos, and analysis of complex accounting transactions - Manage relationships with Corporate Accounting Team and External Advisors to lead reviews of key non-standard, judgmental, and complex transactions - Stay up-to-date on changes to accounting standards and regulatory requirements to ensure financial compliance with regulations - Lead and contribute to large-scale projects to implement process improvements and internal controls for financial reporting and technical accounting. Work cross-functionally to manage change and enhance communications with stakeholders. - Support new business initiatives and other major change management impacting financial statements and related systems Basic Qualifications - 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field - Expertise in revenue accounting and ASC606 Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of hiring, leading and developing teams experience - 5+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience - MBA, or CPA - Experience with accounting research and developing technical accounting memos Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $227,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
