Sr Adv Mech Design Engr.

Qualification: B.E / M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience : 16+ Years

Be part of a team that applies its expertise and knowledge to mechanical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve techniques, procedures, and products and technologies. You will design products to meet customer needs, product quality, manufacturability, new product development, prototype builds, testing, you will develop the product designs necessary to drive product improvement and will be integral in securing present and future business by consistently meeting or exceeding Voice of Customer requirements. Knowledge of electrical characteristics relevant to product design is considered a valuable asset

Essential Technical Skills / Knowledge:

NPI/Product Development: Demonstrate a strong understanding of the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Development Life Cycle. Utilize product design skills to address complex problems, leveraging analytical capabilities.

Mechanical Packaging: Showcase skills in mechanical packaging by effectively assembling different parts and sub-assemblies into a cohesive product that meets functional and customer requirements, specifically for Personal Protection Equipment.

Mechanical Design Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of the design of various mechanical elements, including springs and ratchet mechanisms.

CAD and Analysis Tools: Experience with analysis tools such as ANSYS and Creo mechanisms is advantageous. Lead mechanical design for projects and create concept models in SolidWorks and Creo while producing detailed drawings.

Tolerance Analysis: Conduct tolerance analysis and have a solid grasp of drafting standards, particularly ASME 14.5M, DIN, and BSS.

Manufacturing Processes: Understand different manufacturing processes, including plastic injection molding, metal parts machining, casting, sheet metal processes, and joining methods (welding/riveting). Basic tool design exposure is essential.

Material Selection: Demonstrate expertise in material selection, including engineering plastics, rubber, and metals. Familiarity with mechanical hardware selection, such as screws, gaskets, O-rings, and other sealing elements, is required.

Six Sigma Methodology: Exposure to Six Sigma methodology, statistical methods, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).

Engineering Change Management: Experience in managing Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO), as well as working with Oracle or other MRP tools.

Innovation and Team Leadership: Inculcate a strong innovative mindset and lead the team in defining development roadmaps. Explore and adopt new technology trends and innovations.

Regulatory Compliance: Work experience with regulatory-driven products, including compliance with NFPA and NIOSH standards.

Problem Solving: Breakdown complex customer problems into actionable technological solutions, providing proposals along with schedule/cost estimations and associated risks.

Technical Deliverables: Responsible for other technical project deliverables, including preliminary mechanical calculations (structural/thermal). Ensure quality and accuracy of engineering drawings.

Coordination and Collaboration: Coordinate and follow up with Functional Excellence Teams, Manufacturing Teams, and Team Leads to ensure smooth day-to-day project operations.

Hand Calculations: Perform hand calculations for mechanical design elements as required.

System Engineering Principles: Apply system engineering principles, demonstrating critical thinking skills throughout the design and development process.

Soft Skills

Excellent coordinating and interacting skills, particularly of cross functional teams on a Global basis Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent problem analysis, judgment and technical decision-making skills Excellent implementation skills like Planning, Estimation, Execution and Quality check.
