Sr Advanced Systems Engineer

As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer in our Propulsion Controls Systems group, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the organization to ensure the successful completion of projects. Your expertise in systems engineering and technical leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of propulsion control systems and driving innovation in the industry. You will be the focal point for field issues and troubleshooting related to existing digital engine controllers and developing in-depth product knowledge to be used in future controller development programs. You will also be involved in diagnosing and resolving issues, ranging from engine control systems to circuit boards. You will be creating robust test procedures and executing technical troubleshooting methods.

This role is in engine control unit support of the US Army’s Total InteGrated Engine Revitalization (TIGER) program for Honeywell’s AGT1500 turboshaft engine – the powerplant for the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. TIGER is an integrated program focused on the sustainment of the AGT1500 engine, in part through the implementation of Engineering upgrades of engine hardware and digital engine controllers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

\n\nDiagnose and resolve issues within electronic systems, ranging from engine systems to circuit board levels.\nManage multidisciplinary teams, and communicate status of issues proactively to customers, adhering to established processes.\nCollaborate with and provide direction to engineering technicians in the fabrication of prototypes, vehicle integration, and test instrumentation.\nDevelop and implement test procedures for electronic devices and equipment.\nCreate and interpret electrical system requirements to ensure compliance and functionality.\nDesign solutions to mitigate obsolescence in test equipment, computers, and circuit boards.\nPerform failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) for electrical systems to identify and address potential issues.\nSource and interpret electrical component and equipment datasheets.\nDesign, prototype, troubleshoot, and develop specialized test equipment tailored for aerospace applications.\nCreate robust test procedures for test equipment to standardize testing processes.\nConduct environmental stress testing, including shock, vibration, and temperature cycling, to assess equipment performance under extreme conditions.\nEstablish and configure test benches for effective testing operations.\nMake accurate decisions in high-pressure situations with limited data, incorporating risk analysis into the decision-making process.\n\n

YOU MUST HAVE

\n\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics , or equivalent experience.\n\n\nA minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant field.\nTroubleshooting skills for electronic systems.\nLeadership and team management skills.\nProblem-solving and decision-making abilities.\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills.\n\n
