We recently announced plans to expand in Spain by building a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Moncada, Valencia. When it becomes operational in 2026, the plant will manufacture Edwards' surgical and transcatheter heart valve replacement technologies and will join a global network of more than 16,000 talented team members and five other production plants. Our new facility in Moncada will welcome up to 1,500 dedicated team members by 2029 across manufacturing, engineering, and several other professional career paths. Hiring for professional positions has started and will continue through the winter and early spring, with specialized training for manufacturing hires beginning in the fall of 2025.

The role:

The Architect establishes and maintains enterprise and/or domain level architecture through the stages of planning, design, execution, and operation.  In doing so, the Architect also develops and promulgates the standards and practices necessary to realize and sustain systems in accordance with established architectural plans and designs.  In addition, the Architect provides expert consultation to inform strategic technology and system decisions as well as tactical decisions related to projects.  With that, the overarching goal of the Architect is to cultivate an IT ecosystem that is scalable, extensible, interoperable, adaptable to the business, and aligned with the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.


How you will make an Impact:

Translate business requirements into system qualities that lead to repeatable and executable design strategies and patterns for tactical projects / initiatives in collaboration with project teams

Identify and define the opportunities for integration (e.g. ERP, MES) , selecting the tools, specifying the shared data & code resources, defining the interfaces and data-flows, and monitoring the success of the integration for tactical projects / initiatives

Develop, institute, and maintain the IT design methodology, development process methodology, technology standards, and best practices.

Provide oversight to ensure compliance with architectural standards and practices through all aspects of planning, execution, and operation in delivering solution for Manufacturing Technologies.

Lead the evaluation of new technology targeted for possible integration into the existing IT environment.


What you will need:

Bachelor's Degree in  in related field, 10 years experience of experience in IT Required

2 years years experience of demonstrably solid performance in an architect role working with cross-functional teams (within IT and/or within the business) on enterprise-level or complex/novel system implementations

2 years years experience of relevant industry experience (e.g. medical device, pharmaceuticals, etc.) or in highly regulated environments


What else we look for:

Strong ability to manage and deal with different cultures and nationalities

Strong experience in Manufacturing and Quality systems (ERP, MES, Labeling) implementation and support

Experience working in complex, matrixed and global business environment

Certifications in related disciplines (programming, database development, project management, etc.) required

Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives

Advanced degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Natural Sciences & Mathematics or a related discipline; professional certifications are required (e.g. TOGAF, COBIT, ITIL, OCP, etc.)

Broad and deep technical knowledge – expertise in multiple aspects including hardware, software, applications, and systems engineering and QA/testing

Knowledge of common architectural methodologies, frameworks, and patterns

Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (example: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt)

Expert in architectural modeling and documentation (e.g. UML, BPML)

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Knowledge of financial modeling and planning as it pertains to IT investment

Program and project management planning and organizational skills

Knowledge of best practices related to IT governance, operations, and administration

Expertise in conducting RFPs, vendor assessments, and contract reviews

Working knowledge of Agile frameworks

Experience with FDA guidelines for Software Quality and Systems Validation is preferred

Experience with Good Manufacturing/Good Documentation Practices (GxP) processes required

Adhere to all EHS rules and requirements and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of  influence/control
