Externally this positionwillinteractdirectlywiththepolicyandprogramofficesofmorethan40externalsponsors.Thesecontacts include representatives from Federal agencies, institutions of higher education, foreign entities,corporations and foundations, state agencies and subcontractors. The (Sr) AssistantDirector,Pre-AwardAdministrationisauthorizedtosigncertificationsand assurancesonbehalfoftheinstitution;approveproposals;updatecertificationsandassurancesonbehalfoftheinstitution;andinterpretsponsorguidelinesandregulations.Matureindependencetomake decisions in consultation with the Associate Director, Pre-Award are key components.Mentor andmaysupervise students and/orother juniorlevel staff. Managesworkload withindependence.Works moreonpolicies andprocedures relevanttoOSP. **Essential Functions:** • Pre-Award Administration • Proposal development • Proposal review and submissions • Approve University level certifications • Just In Time (JIT) management and submission • Proposal tracking • Progress report submission, as needed • Participate in training workshops and offering self-training documents that will assist researchers in finding funding for their projects **Training & Policy Development** • Participate in formal University Training Program, conduct training sessions with individual departments, assist in the development of up-to-date training manuals, enhance OSP website and attend off campus training conferences. • Participate in Internal Policy and Procedures Development • Participate in various research committees (internal and external) **Supervision of students/staff** • Participate in Departmental Divisional staff meetings, as assigned • Manages student team members (pre-employment screening, interviews, scheduling, workassignments, etc.) • All other duties as assigned Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following hiring range: Sr Assistant Director: 5+ years of applicable experience: $87,900 - $109,900 Assistant Director: 3-5 years of applicable experience: $79,600 - $99,550 Pre-Award Administrator: 0-3 years of applicable experience: $70,500 - $88,150 **Requirements** _Basic_ _Qualifications_ This position requires the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and in a professional manner.Thisposition must have the capacityto educate and train individuals withvarying levels ofexperiencein sponsoredprogramadministration.Thispositionmustbecapableofmanagingmultipletasksandworkinginademanding,deadline-drivenenvironment. Overall,thecandidateforthispositionmustexhibitthefollowing: • A thorough knowledge and high level of functional and technical competency ofelectronicresearchadministrationtoolssuchasGrants.gov,Research.gov;eRACommons;FedConnect;(2 • ProfessionalcompetenceininterpretingFederalregulations,2CFR200andFAR; • Confidenceandcompetencyintrainingdepartmentaladministrators; • Functional and technical competency in university administrative and financial managementtools includingallthevarious modulesofPeopleSoft, InfoEd, ande-recruit; and • Ahostofotherfunctionalandtechnicalcompetenciesthatframetheprofessionaldutiesofaresearchadministrator.
