**Senior Associate Manufacturing (Pilot Plant)**
**What you will do**
Let’s do this! Let’s change the world! In this dynamic role you will execute a variety of production and technology related operations in the Downstream (Purification) area of the large-scale Pilot Plant. The Pilot Plant delivers data and material to support process development of early and late stage clinical biologic molecules. The Plant also prototypes and develops new technologies to support advancement of Amgen’s equipment and operations for current and future biologic facilities.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Completing a variety of production-related operations in a large-scale facility, including but not limited to: performing processing on the floor (purification of Drug Substance)
+ Perform supporting activities such as buffer preparation, and equipment commissioning, set-up/cleaning, testing and operation.
+ Completing NPI production runs, experiments, commercial program support, and characterization efforts.
+ Performing ‘hands-on' work in the plant.
+ Training staff on process setup and production.
+ Defining & documenting operation practices, ensuring documentation accurately reflects operations performed, developing, and implementing area improvements (efficiency and safety) applying lean principles, commissioning equipment, and participating in operations/cross-functional meetings.
+ The Pilot Plant performs frequently pilots novel process operations (focusing primarily on large molecule cell culture harvest and purification operations), driving technology development, supporting innovation across Amgen. We execute non-GMP and pre-pivotal GMP bioprocessing operations for multiple mammalians cell culture products, to develop & demonstrate production processes and produce bulk material. We produce sound, relevant data for the Amgen process developments at meaningful scales that enable the rapid, successful transfer of our output to more dedicated manufacturing spaces. The environment is challenging, fast-paced and ever changing with varying degrees of process definition, but very rewarding for those that like hands-on science and want to make process improvements in a development space. Must be able to work off hours or non-standard shifts on-site.
**What we expect of you**

**Basic Qualifications:**
+ High school/GED + 4 years of manufacturing, scientific or operations experience OR
+ Associate’s + 2 years of manufacturing, scientific or operations experience OR
+ Bachelor’s + 6 months of manufacturing, scientific or operations experience OR
+ Master's
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemical/Chemical Engineering, or other relevant field and
+ 3+ years of experience in process development, biotechnology manufacturing, or Life Sciences or Engineering fields
+ Solid knowledge of upstream/downstream operations
+ General knowledge of the associated analytical and media/buffer preparation techniques
+ Energetic and technically-minded individuals, with strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
+ Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and applications, and various downstream techniques
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team and/or project environments

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
