Genus Plc has an exciting opportunity. We are seeking a Sr Bioinformatics Research Scientist to help us change the future of animal breeding, through strategic and actionable uses of genomic data. This position is based out of DeForest, WI and remote work in the U.S. is an option. Join a growing team using next generation sequencing and bioinformatics to improve decision making and accelerate genetic improvement in bovine and porcine genetics. The Sr Bioinformatic Research Scientist will independently serve as the bioinformatics lead on projects. This includes understanding the goals of the project, assisting in experimental design, and making recommendations for the next courses of action, including what type of analysis should be done. Projects can include analysis of single cell sequencing, miRNA, transcriptomics, metagenomics or WGS sequencing data, and custom script development.
The successful candidate can work in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment and can work autonomously and collaboratively across functional teams with strong attention to detail. The candidate will also be able to effectively communicate results and is a clear and influential communicator who builds effective relationships and partnerships with stakeholders.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000 USD. The salary provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
You Will Participate in all phases of the genomics data lifecycle from experiment conception, pipeline development and execution, and management of data assets to address current and future questions Work well collaboratively in a team and have a bias towards curiosity and extraction of actionable intelligence from dataServe as the primary bioinformatics expert on projectsCompiling, analyzing and summarizing large and complex datasets from multiple sources and sharing with the relevant parties to make informed decisions on projectsProvide support for users to understand results and analyses; embody communication styles that are effective for both technical and non-technical audiencesPromote a safe environment following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations RequirementsBasic Qualifications: (required)
MS Degree in Bioinformatics or related Life or Computational ScienceA minimum of 2 years of experience in relevant field post gradA minimum of 2 years of experience using standard Next Generation Sequencing bioinformatics toolsets at the command line (ex. BWA, GATK, Freebayes, Samtools) A minimum of 2 years of coding skills experience in appropriate languages for bioinformatics (Python, R, Linux, Shell Scripting) A minimum of one year of experience with RNA-seq whole transcriptomic datasets and microbiome analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
