UFG is looking for a Sr Claims Rep - Field to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and reporting the claims within an assigned territory. Examine policy forms to verify coverage, interview claimants or witnesses, obtain police or hospital reports, appraisals and all other information pertinent to the claim, analyze, evaluate, negotiate and resolve claims.
Responsibilities;
Review new claims assignment to determine the nature and severity of the claim and intended action required. Manage and execute all claim functions such as maintaining proper claims documentation within claims management system, reserving, claim payments, expense factors, and file notes. Make prompt, meaningful contact with insureds or claimants. Maintain proper communication channels with internal and external customers as defined by claims best practices. Conduct a timely and thorough investigation to identify risks/exposures which may include: conducting interviews, procuring recorded statements, relevant documents and identify others possessing facts or involvement with the claim – to determine extent and severity of potential loss. Evaluate, manage and/or recommend claim file reserves. Review and interpret policy to determine coverage. Determine and communicate liability decision with all relevant parties. Inform underwriting if increased hazards or unusual circumstances concerning a risk/policy exposure. Disposition of claims through effectively negotiating and settling and/or denial. Actively identify subrogation potential and posture claim for successful subrogation. Recognize and promptly address litigation potential, work cohesively with defense counsel, and attend mediation and settlement conferences as needed. Participate in continuing educational programs to develop and maintain knowledge of products, procedures, and industry trends. Conduct field investigations for assigned claims. Determine the scope of damage and prepare estimates using Xactimate. Duties include site inspection, diagram, photographs, and interview and secure recorded statements (when appropriate) of those possessing facts concerning the loss. Negotiate with contractors or repair facilities regarding extent of damage and method of repair. Foster and maintain relationships with underwriting, risk control, marketing and the independent agency force. May handle litigated first party property claims.Qualifications:

High school diploma 2 or 4 year degree preferredCertifications/Designations:
None required, AIC or AINS preferred Within 2 years of hire, must begin working toward designations as deemed appropriate by supervisor Meet the appropriate state licensing laws required to handle “multi line” claimsExperience:
5+ years claims handling experience

Working Conditions:
Field assignments are assigned regularly. Some exposure to high stress/fast paced environment. Travel required as needed to complete assignments. Lifting/carrying up to 50lbs regularly. Required to climb ladders/roofs while in the field. Company vehicle and safety equipment assigned to persons in this role. Incumbents frequently work irregular hours to complete assigned claims, evenings and weekends. May require overnight travel, including assignments to catastrophe adjusting teams-sometimes on short notice.Disclaimer:
