Position Summary
Responsible for the nutritional care of hospitalized patients within all age groups in accordance with unit assigned.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1.
Responsible for the nutritional care of hospitalized patients on assigned floors by completing daily assignments in accordance with department protocols and policies; assigns diet technician duties for the day if applicable.
2.
Provide nutritional screening, assessment, monitoring, follow-up and documentation on all hospitalized patients within all age groups within designated time frames in accordance with hospital and department protocols and policies.
3.
Provide nutrition education including diet education and food drug interactions to hospitalized patients and families in accordance with hospital protocols and policies.
4.
Provide nutritional interventions, downgrading of diets and recommendations and accurately document in EMR and Cbord.
5.
Responsible for mentoring the Dietetic Interns and Students in accordance with ACEND standards and requirements as stipulated by Students internship or students school.
6.
Participation in department in-services and PI projects as assigned.
7.
Maintain Dietitian Registration as stipulated by CDR.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:

Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training Registration

Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Nutrition or related field

Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
Three years clinical experience in hospital setting and/or advanced degree or advanced certification.
Preferred:
Five years clinical experience in a hospital setting and an advanced degree or certification.
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, CDR
Preferred:
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
Familiarity with computers, computerized charting, kitchen function and equipment, excellent communication and critical thinking skills
