Job Summary
The Sr. Consultant, Leaves and Accommodations is responsible for providing direct support to employees and leaders related to requests for leaves of absence and for the timely and comprehensive facilitation of the interactive process related to requests for reasonable accommodations. The Sr. Consultant is responsible for staying up to date with evolving guidance and regulations in order to provide support and expert professional advice to employees and leaders in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations and organizational policies.
Job Duties
Provides high level consultation and case management in the area of reasonable accommodations, in accordance with federal and state regulations and explains processes for requesting family and medical leave of absences, including documentation required and approval period. Facilitates the interactive process with employees, management and health care workers for reasonable accommodation requests. Proactively advises and consults with leaders, health care professionals and employees to identify the need for or changes in accommodation, to assess reasonableness of the requested accommodation, and to obtain required supporting medical information. Serve as mentor and subject matter expert in the areas of leaves and accommodations for other HR team members and peers. . Proactively partners with third-party administrator to ensure open cases for leave, disability and/or worker’s compensation are managed in accordance with organizational policies and processes. Develops and delivers trainings in collaboration with management, HR Business Partners, and other appropriate stakeholders. Creates and maintains accurate records with strong attention to detail. Analyzes, interprets and applies HR data, laws, regulations and policies in a fast-paced environment while de-escalating stressful and/or emotionally charged situations. Prioritizes workload to ensure legal compliance and responsive customer service while maintaining highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.Job Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
4-6 years in Human Resources, counseling, social work, law, or reasonably comparable field Ability to communicate and provide professional service and work products across all levels of the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience providing training. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Proven ability to work independently while prioritizing competing deadlines and projects.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
6+ yrs experience managing, administering and/or consulting on entitlement programs (leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations) HRIS Databases Absence management software and/or databases
