General Summary:
Qualcomm's Government Technologies (QGOV) division develops special products based on its wireless terrestrial and satellite communication technologies for the military, federal, local, and foreign governments. In this role as a Cyber Security Engineer, you will work on an Information Security and Risk Management team dedicated to securing Qualcomm’s Government business unit. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting edge tools and grow your skills across the entire spectrum of Cyber Security while proactively protecting, shielding and defending the business unit from cyber threats.
Opening is available in San Diego CA.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.OR
High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.
Physical Requirements:
• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
3+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
Security Operations to include security event monitoring and incident reviewCreating threat detections in host and network security toolingSecurity Automation and scriptingCloud Security Architecture, tooling, and monitoringIncident ResponseThreat HuntingApplication SecurityPenetration TestingEducation Requirements: no degree required with experience as stated above.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Applies knowledge in a security-related area (e.g., cryptography, hacker exploits, reverse engineering, etc.) to manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with minimal supervision.
• Performs security-related tasks involving multiple technologies.
• Stays up-to-date on latest trends to prevent potential attacks and shares knowledge within team.
• Conducts root cause analyses to find the cause of system vulnerability issues; identifies possible solutions.
• Identifies issues utilizing a variety of techniques and applies known countermeasures for multiple subsystems; influences other teams to adopt countermeasures to mitigate future issues
• Writes, reviews, and edits technical documentation. Presents complicated technical information to immediate team.
• Writes automation and other code to deliver tactical solutions.
• Identifies security risks and vulnerabilities and works with stakeholders to determine appropriate fixes or mitigating controls.
Level of Responsibility:
• Working under some supervision.
• Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question.
• Most tasks require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
• Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.
• Exercising creativity to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$56.92 - $85.38The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
