Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Position Description:
SHINE Systems seeks a Senior Data Engineer to provide support to the CDC for data gathering, database merging and coding. SHINE Systems personnel work to create dashboards and Python queries to assist epidemiologists find data they need to make decisions on infectious diseases.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is responsible for coordinating the Data Collation and Integration for Public Health Event Response (DCIPHER) IT investment for the agency. DCIPHER is a platform that brings together data sets of differing origin, structure, and purpose to provide near real-time insights to public health problems. DCIPHER is designed for different types of data (structured /unstructured), different sources of data, different user skill sets, connections with different systems, and interoperability with different tools. The DCIPHER platform collects, ingests , integrates, transforms, analyzes, visualizes, reports on, and shares key surveillance, epidemiologic, laboratory and environmental findings during public health investigations and responses . The platform allows multiple CDC programs to utilize the same system through secure access and the configuration of applications. These applications are a suite of micro services that are configured to provide a workflow that aligns with a program's needs. These applications can be reused and configured for other
Requirements & Desired:
Required:
5+ years of statistical coding experience
Must have Python data engineering skills (ETL, Data munging/table merging/data processing)
US citizen (Born or Naturalized)
Ability to pass healthcare information background check
Desired:
BS degree in Computer Science, IT, Statistics or Data Analytics
Experience with PySpark, R, SparkR, SQL, Palantir Foundry, Workshop coding
Location: Fully Remote
Clearance: Public Trust (ability to get)
Travel: Possible 3-day travel to Atlanta 1/year.
