This team works cross functionally to select and develop manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment in a design for manufacturing environment intended to proof processing principles and supports high volume scalability toward high volume needs and implement efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, and information. Visit www.medtronicdiabetes.com to see an overview of the products in our Diabetes product portfolio. **Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.** + Develops and applies computer aided design (CAD) software engineering methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems. + Assessing architecture and hardware limitations, plans technical projects in the design and development of CAD software. + Defines and selects new approaches and implementation of CAD software engineering applications and design specifications and parameters. + Develops routines and utility programs. + Prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval. + May specify materials, equipment and supplies required for completion of projects and may evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. + Maintain broad knowledge of product design, manufacture and assembly techniques + Participates Product Development Process phases. + Provide manufacturing inputs to product design. + Provide inputs or owns activities related conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes, or products. + Early engagement in Proof of Concepts requiring tooling and process first principles to Select best Technical scalable Solutions. + Performs feasibility studies for process, equipment and software design to determine if capable of functioning as intended. + Work Closely with, Coordinates and drives necessary meetings with vendors/equipment integrators to Brainstorm Solutions needed with the goal of establishing the required equipment/tooling solutions necessary to meet product design specifications assembly requirements. + Engages in Process development activities from product design requirements, process inputs requirements flow down and their relationship to process outputs. + Perform hands activities with equipment to set and develop processes. + Drive and execute problem solving & process improvements associated with the definition of a manufacturing process up to the introduction of a new Process Technology and/or Product. + Challenge requirement flow down and challenge specifications as part of product development process. + Owns and collaborate on activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery. + Collaborating with cross-functional team members throughout product development phases to ensure program success + Drives equipment Factory Acceptance Tests activities at Supplier. + Drives Equipment transfer activities, equipment installation and site acceptance testing activities at the manufacturing site. + Travel up to 75% domestic and international **Must Have: Minimum Requirements** + Bachelor Degree in Engineering + Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience. **Nice to Have** + Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or electronic industry + Process Development Experience of Mechanical assembly process and knowledge of related manufacturing equipment technologies such as **Plastics Ultrasonic Welding or Ultrasonic Staking** **Laser Lift Off, Laser Ablation, Laser Marking or Laser Welding** **Leak test systems (Micro-flow or Pressure decay methods preferred), test** **parameters recipes for effective leak rate measurement.** **Automated part handling/Pick and Place systems of Miniature and flexible components.** **Tyvek Heat Sealing** **Experience** **developing mechanical concepts used for part placement solutions** + Experience in manufacturing or new products introduction. + Experience building, transferring, troubleshooting and/or improving high volume automation systems (20ppm or greater) for assembly. + Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools – pneumatics, servo, CAM driven systems, material handling, conveyors, inspection/test (Structural and Non-Contact), application of lasers e.g. etching/marking/ablation/welding, dispense process, plastics Ultrasonic welding or Ultrasonic Staking, and/or linear and rotary/dial automated assembly. + Experience with electromechanical systems & automating assembly processes. Proficient in PLC programming (Ladder Logic and Structured Text), Vision Systems & HMI development. Industrial and/or Collaborative Robots (e.g. YuMi), pick-place-pack programming/integration experience + Demonstrated Knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting on areas such as Station alignment / leveling, Station timing diagrams. + Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SOLIDWORKS preferred) + Knowledge in Computer System Validation Lifecycle + Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) GD&T + Knowledge of machining and fabrication techniques + Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt and/or SPC Training + Knowledge in AB Allen Bradly PLC programming and motion control + Experience working with automation supplier + Knowledge Machine Vision Systems (Cognex Preferred) + Experience on process development + Measure System Analysis + Knowledge on DOE + Knowledge on Process Validation Lifecycle + Experience working with product design teams + Knowledge on 6-Sigma principles and methodology + Demonstrated experience on process improvements + Experience managing and working with automation equipment suppliers + Experience developing equipment specifications + Experience with FAT/SAT Activities + Equipment qualification experience + Experience prioritizing and driving technical issues to resolution **Physical Job Requirements** The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.  The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
