The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible to provide support and guidance with activities of daily living and independent living skills for the children in our children's residence. The supports provided also include community based activities and outings. The Direct Support Professional is a key member of a therapeutic team responsible for the overall physical and emotional well-being of children with intellectual disabilities including autism (ages 12-21).
Responsibilities
The Driver/Senior Direct Support Professional is responsible for protective oversight of individuals placed in their care from the time they are picked up from their home to the time they are dropped off to their home, and for facilitating their active engagement in session activities. Familiarizes self with care needs of group members, including socialization, communication, dietary restrictions, toileting and behavioral concerns and offers assistance appropriate to maximizing individual's ability to participate in group sessions as independently as possible. Plans and organizes community outings and/or on site activities for individuals. Supervises one other Direct Support Professional. Responsible for assigned paperwork. Responsible for entering data on Precision Care, a web-based platform for recording services. Promotes group enthusiasm and help create supportive atmosphere for active participation and socialization. Transports passengers courteously, responsibly and in accordance with agency policy, in all weather conditions. Represents HeartShare in a professional manner.
