About the Job We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director of Design and Construction to lead our team as we endeavor to expand and improve our physical footprint. As the Senior Director of Design and Construction for Tailored Brands, Inc., you will lead and manage all aspects of store design and construction across the United States and Canada. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in retail design and construction management, who can drive innovative solutions while ensuring alignment with our brand's vision and operational goals. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Visual Merchandising, Real Estate, and Facilities, as well as others, to deliver outstanding retail experiences. What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities • Develop and implement a comprehensive design and construction strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives and brand vision. • Effectively lead a design, construction and procurement team of hybrid and remote employees, ensuring development and continual growth towards a best-in-class team by establishing standards, and evaluating the performance levels of employees. Will foster a culture of collaboration, creativity and excellence. • Establishes, trains and monitors construction KPI’s. • Oversee the design and construction of new store openings, renovations, and relocations in both the U.S. and Canada, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. • Manage the entire project lifecycle from initial concept development through to final execution, including site selection, permitting, and contractor management. • Directs a comprehensive and actionable evaluation of strategic project timelines, capital spend, and operating expense plan with senior management to evaluate and establish standards for quarterly analysis and review. • Identifies cost-saving opportunities and negotiates contracts with service providers and suppliers to ensure cost effectiveness without sacrificing service or quality. • Develop and manage design and construction projects budgets (OP EX & CAP EX), monitor financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource allocation. • Monitor and report on monthly actuals and forecast future expenditures, providing insights and recommendations for budget optimization. • Partner with Operations to ensure designs meet functional requirements and operational efficiency. • Work closely with the Visual Merchandising team to create compelling in-store experiences that reflect brand identity and engage customers. • Collaborate with Real Estate to assess site viability and design considerations for new locations. • Establish and maintain relationships with architects, contractors, and suppliers to ensure quality and efficiency in all projects. • Negotiate contracts and manage budgets to optimize project costs and resources. • Ensure that all design and construction projects adhere to corporate standards, safety regulations, and sustainability initiatives. • Stay informed on industry trends, materials, and technologies to continually enhance the design and construction process. • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on project statuses, budgets, and key performance indicators. • Analyze project outcomes to inform future strategies and improve processes. What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. • 12+ years of experience in retail design and construction, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. • Strong ability to identify and breakdown process issues, as well as proven change management experience. • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead teams to move past challenges with minimal disruption. • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale retail projects and CapEx budgets. • Strong understanding of design principles, construction practices, and retail operations. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams. • Experience working in a multi-national context, particularly in Canada, is highly desirable. • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and project management tools. • Possesses a high level of experience with the following: retail tenant improvements; multiple project management; construction administration; detailing bid scope; project schedule management; project closeout. • Demonstrates a strong technical understanding of construction drawings, construction specifications, and required construction documentation. • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Possesses excellent problem-solving ability with realistic and cost-effective solutions. • Goal-oriented and organized leadership • In-depth understanding of the construction industry • Self-motivated and self-directed Please note that you do not need to qualify for all requirements to be considered. Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands • Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily. • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. • Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from a remote office location. • Ability to travel up to 30% each month. The starting $162,300 for this position is $186,600 and may increase to $202,000 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Other compensation may include a 25% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus paid out according to policy. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
