Role/ Department:
This role will sit in the newly formed Cyber Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team within Northern Trust’s Technology function (1st Line of Defense), and will focus on the measurement, analysis, oversight and reporting of cybersecurity risks and controls.
The Cyber Risk Senior Director will lead the Cyber Risk team, and will be responsible for the ownership, operation and optimization of the team’s risk identification, assessment and reporting processes. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in both cybersecurity and risk management disciplines, and have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
The Cyber Risk Senior Director will report to the Global Head of Cyber Governance, Risk, and Compliance, and play a key role in the leadership of that team.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Lead a team of cyber risk specialists, providing direction and supporting their developmentLead the identification, evaluation, and prioritization of cyber risks across the organizationOversee production, reporting and evolution of cyber risk metrics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)Conduct cyber risk assessments and provide reporting to a range of senior stakeholdersConduct cyber maturity assessments and provide reporting to a range of senior stakeholdersConduct thematic risk analysis, providing insights on issues and direction on risk mitigation strategiesDrive automation, analytics, and continuous improvement of processesEngage with a range of senior stakeholders across Lines of Defense to ensure appropriate oversight and reporting of cybersecurity risksCollaborate with cross-functional teams on cyber risk assessment and remediation activitiesSkills/ Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferredMinimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on risk managementExtensive knowledge of cyber risk management frameworks and methodologiesProven experience in leadership roles, managing teams, and influencing executive stakeholdersStrategic thinker with a strong understanding of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and risk mitigation optionsInnovative thinker and adaptable to changeExceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of translating technical risk into business termsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsRelevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC or similarWorking with Us:

Salary Range:
$0 - 0 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits.
