The Senior Director of Global Payroll Operations will lead and manage the comprehensive payroll functions of our organization. This role is responsible for leading US and Canada Payroll Operations, Payroll Tax & Accounting, and Payroll Support teams. This pivotal role ensures the seamless execution of payroll services, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while enhancing operational efficiency and payroll accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

· Strategic Leadership:

o Develop and implement a forward-thinking strategic vision for payroll operations that aligns with McKesson's overarching objectives.

o Champion process improvement initiatives to optimize payroll accuracy and efficiency, ensuring a seamless experience for our global workforce.

o Establish, track, and analyze payroll KPIs and metrics to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.

· Operational Excellence:

o Oversee comprehensive payroll processing for a diverse and international workforce, ensuring precision and punctuality in payroll execution.

o Ensure full compliance with all pertinent federal, state, and local tax regulations, including audits and mandatory reporting.

o Collaborate with HRIS, timekeeping, and benefits systems to ensure accurate and integrated payroll operations.

· Team Leadership & Development:

o Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing payroll team, cultivating a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

o Provide expert guidance on complex payroll challenges, serving as a subject matter authority.

o Develop succession plans and keep the team abreast of industry best practices and regulatory developments.

· Compliance & Risk Management: o Ensure strict adherence to payroll policies, labor laws, and tax obligations.

o Maintain a robust internal control framework to protect payroll data and mitigate risks.

o Partner with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and address any findings.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration:

o Collaborate closely with HR, IT, External Audit, and Finance teams to support McKesson's strategic initiatives.

o Provide leadership and guidance during organizational changes, such as scaling operations or transitioning to new payroll platforms.

o Serve as a key liaison with external vendors, including payroll service providers. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

· 10+ years of payroll management experience and 5+ years in a senior leadership capacity Critical Skills

· Proven experience managing multi-state and Canadian payroll operations.

· Expertise in leading payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, SAP, or similar platforms.

· Proficiency in Excel and other data analytics tools.

· In-depth understanding of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and accounting principles.

· Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders effectively.

· Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.

· Adaptability to a fast-paced, evolving environment and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Education and Certification

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

· Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent preferred.

· Relevant leadership or project management certifications (e.g., PMP) preferred.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$141,400 - $235,600
