Job Description

As a Sr. Employee Relations Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will advise on and conduct internal investigations of potential policy and/or Code of Conduct violations, develop Employee Relations capability among other colleagues, as well as, leading initiatives to strengthen culture programs focusing on ethical business practices across assigned business divisions/group(s).

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with HR leaders to develop and maintain effective employee relations programs using best practices.

Lead employment investigations for complex ER cases, providing advice to HR Partners on conducting investigations and formal ER procedures in challenging situations.

Advocate for the ethics hotline and coordinate associated programs to ensure compliance and integrity.

Coordinate and facilitate investigations training and other ER learning and development initiatives for assigned HR teams.

Provide thought leadership on embedding a continuous performance improvement culture, including reviewing and managing Performance Improvement Program (PIP) procedures and supporting materials. Guide and mentor Managers and HR through the PIP process.

Prepare and train HRGs on template toolbox materials such as disciplinary and grievance hearing invitations, investigation meeting minutes, and disciplinary decision letters.

Conduct site organizational assessments with HR to identify the root cause of employee relations issues and recommend improvements.

Perform periodic reviews of HR policies and provide suggestions for improvements.

Analyze ER data from business units, identify trends, and communicate findings and actionable recommendations.

Collaborate internally with Functional/Regional and Country HR leaders, Employment law, Compliance teams, Internal Audit, and other partners to achieve the above responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

At least 7 years of experience in Employee Relations.

Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience in HR, Juris Doctor, or specialized training in labor/employee relations preferred.

Expert knowledge of employee relations, risk management, investigative practices, and employment law.

Strong technical writing skills and the ability to influence senior management on organizational issues.

Extensive experience leading corporate investigations of complex and confidential workplace complaints.

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, with excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience in developing and delivering training on employment issues.

Track record of identifying, analyzing, and resolving organizational issues with data-driven solutions.

Strong collaboration and diplomacy skills to establish influential partnerships across organizational lines.

Ability to manage highly confidential information professionally.

Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with changing business needs and conditions.

Ability to multitask, handle ambiguity, and work collaboratively.
