Job Summary  

 

Job Title – Senior Engineer, Polymer (Renal, Containers) 

Location – Whitefield, Bangalore 

Shift – General 

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

The successful candidate as a Senior Engineer for Polymer containers for Baxter’s PD (Peritoneal Dialysis) solutions product portfolio, will be responsible for: 

Technical leadership and ownership of product R&D and analytical activities (V&V) to execute global, cross-functional Change controls and SNCs pertaining to PD containers polymeric materials 

Project management which includes managing change controls –using Baxter’s in-house quality systems like TW8, TcU 

Design and execution of material behavior and mechanical testing, writing of verification test protocols, test cases and reports 

The role would involve organization and presentation of technical work and deliverables to the global project team(s) in a well- planned manner with a clear logical flow 

Will be responsible for product R&D in order to execute global, cross-functional projects pertaining to polymeric materials 

Responsible for development and delivery of materials and mechanical testing, writing of verification test protocols, test cases and reports 

Troubleshooting, root-cause-analysis and problem-solving related to material aspects of the products associated with field performance and manufacturing 

Coaching early career and junior members of the team on Baxter Change Control processes 

Should have a strong understanding of polymer science & polymeric compositions, be able to study their structure-property relationships and have an ability to understand chemical analysis data from methods such as, FTIR, NMR, ICP-OES etc., along with understanding of mechanical testing of materials, such as, tensile testing etc. 

Should have direct hands-on experience in mechanical design of industrial components – medical devices or otherwise- with polymeric materials 

Should have the ability to lead and carry out root cause analyses in case of product failures with little to no supervision 

Will be able to leverage own expertise as well as inputs from others to identify and resolve critical issues 

 

Qualifications: 

 

PhD in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering or related disciplines or Masters’ degree in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering or related disciplines with minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in application of polymers in industries. 

Should have a strong understanding of polymer science & polymeric composites, be able to study their structure-property relationships and have an ability to understand chemical analysis data from methods such as, FTIR, NMR, ICP-OES etc., along with understanding of mechanical testing of materials, such as, tensile testing etc. 

Should have direct hands-on experience in mechanical design of industrial components – medical devices or otherwise- with polymeric materials 

Should have the ability to lead and carry out root cause analyses in case of product failures with little to no supervision 

Clear and effective communication (written, oral) and presentation skills. 

Excellent stakeholder management (local and global) 

A proven track record of effectiveness in a fast-paced environment. 

Proven ability to create results within budget, timeline, and product/project deliverables 

     

Skills 

 

Excellent English verbal and written communication skills 

Project management experience 

Proficient with polymeric materials’ testing methodologies, such as, FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC, tensile testing etc. 

Hands-on experience in mechanical design using polymeric materials – including – design for manufacturing and design for reliability approaches. 

Solid computer skills: email, documentation, and collaboration tools: e.g., WebEx, Teams, Microsoft Office products, etc. 

Self-directed, resourceful, and able to work on multiple projects and priorities. 

Strong organization, attention to detail, and documentation skills. 

Very adept at grasping and solving complex problems using root-cause analysis techniques. 

Hands on experience in polymeric material’s testing is an added advantage 

Ability to objectively identify technical solutions and make sound decisions.
