Position Summary:
Develops new or modified formulations process, defines processing or handling equipment requirements and specifications, and reviews processing techniques and methods applied in the manufacture, fabrication, and evaluation of products. Involvement may begin at any step from research and development to full-scale manufacturing. Coordinates design requirement review with appropriate engineering/scientific personnel to ensure compatibility of processing methods. Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications. May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes.

Responsibilities:
Represent Operations needs on product development teams for genomic applicationsParticipate in process development, definition and improvement, and other activities in the making of consumable productsLead and work on teams to develop and transfer robust new processes/products to productionConstruct and execute controlled experiments (including DOE's) to optimize processes, address yield and quality issues and drive implementation of solutions into a production environment to meet project goalsAnalyze process test results, issue reports and make technical recommendationsWork cross functionally with R&D, Manufacturing and Quality to develop processes and lead design transfer to manufacturing for new productsDefine technical requirements and write procedures for Production to process productDetermine strategy and work with external collaborators and suppliersTroubleshoot new product process issues related to yield, quality and throughputRequirements:
Work experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical or semiconductor industries is desirableGood interdepartmental communication skills and documentation skills are requiredDemonstrated ability to accomplish goals while working across departments is requiredHigh level problem solving and reasoning skills requiredHigh level computer skills are requiredExperience with product development processes, design transfer experience, and project management is a plusExperience with biochemical processes preferredExperience with statistics, Statistical Process Control, DOE techniques, and critical parameter management is a plusExperience with high volume production in a high tech, high volume consumables industry is a plusIntermediate level programming knowledge is a plusListed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Preferential skills sets:
Prior experience operating, troubleshooting, method development, method editing for automated liquid handlers (e.g. Hamilton Robotic Liquid Handlers, Tecan Liquid Handlers).
Prior experience in lyophilization formulation development, excipient selection testing, lyophilization process development and transfer to manufacturing.
Experience/Education:
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
The estimated base salary range for the Sr Engineer - Process Development role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $132,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
