Roles and Responsibilities
Provide leadership and technical direction for assigned program tasks and personnel.
Responsible for developing and maintaining one (or more) of the four pillars of the GE Aerospace SMS.Responsible for maintaining policy and procedures related to product safety as well as Enterprise level safety management.Develop and maintain regulatory relationships and work collaboratively to demonstrate compliance with appropriate regulations.Responsible for the theory, development, and practical implementation of SMS across the Business. Execute processes to identify and mitigate risks or potential hazards to an acceptable level; oversee Enterprise processes related to the risk management process, hazard evaluations, and utilize human factors principles to drive improvements into the system.Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within specific pillars of SMS. Influence the development of strategy for those areas of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer/program needs.Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within work groupCommunicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues.Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel.Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning.Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling.Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group.Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.Required Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or collegeMinimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineeringDesired Characteristics
