Position Title: Sr Field Operations Technician (T4)

Role

Senior Technician in the Network Operations Organization that is responsible for supporting the reactive and proactive maintenance of Small Cell Networks.  Typical responsibilities are resolution of Reactive Maintenance tickets and the completion of Preventative Maintenance and Network Acceptance tasks.

Also mentors fellow technicians, acts as subject matter expert and facilitates process improvements.

 

Responsibilities

Perform all activities in a manner to ensure the safety of yourself, team, customers and the public. Respond to all network outages, impairments and emergencies in assigned area. Collaborate and complete annual preventative maintenance inspections to Crown Castle standards. Ensure timely receipt and review for acceptance of required new and modified networks using the Network handoff process. Expertise and understanding of RF and fiber related test equipment, such as PIM analyzer, Antenna analyzer, RF power meter, Spectrum analyzer, Signal generator, OTDR, Fusion splicer and Fiber Optic power meter. Operate PC or similar devices to gain access to Small Cell Network web based tools and complete assigned administrative tasks. Work efficiently and effectively with cross-functional departments and peers. Assume leadership roles on customer escalations, complex troubles Demonstrates high performance and thorough knowledge of tools, systems and technologies. Assume leadership roles for special projects, process improvements and initiatives. Subject matter expert and trainer to Network Operations Technicians and Associate Network Operations Technicians. Responsible for compliance with All Crown Castle policies and procedures. Safe work practices must be followed along with integrity and quality.

 

Expectations 

Ability to safely drive and operate boom truck in the public right of way. Advanced ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Skilled in Web Based ticketing and network monitoring systems. Proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance, while managing time for maximum efficiency. Advanced knowledge of radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, electronic and fiber optic theory. Proven ability to work closely with and provide guidance to, vendors both on-site and remotely. Proven ability to work closely with and provide guidance to internal team members. 

 

Education/Certifications

High School Degree or equivalent required Associates, two year Technical or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred PIM/Line Sweep Certification, JMA/PPC Connector Certification and Fiber Optic Splice/Technician Certification and or other as related to the position Possess a valid state driver’s license with a non-negligent driving record 

 

Experience/Minimum Requirements

Five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following fields: Wireless/Wireline Operations     OSP/ISP or related. Advanced Technical knowledge of Fiber, Coax and Low voltage trouble shooting

Reports to:  Network Operations Supervisor/Network Operations Manager

Working Conditions:

Works in the Public right of way, exposure to extreme weather, radio frequency, general public.  Physical demands of lifting up to 75 pounds, stooping, and climbing ladders. Available to work after hours, weekends, Holidays and On-Call Duty as conditions require.

May be required to travel and be away from home location, for extended periods of time.
