Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ **Responsibilities:** GENERAL PURPOSE: Performs advanced accounting work requiring knowledge and application of accounting theory, techniques and practices and conceptually understands GAAP financial statements. Works closely with the Associate Director, HSD Finance to build annual operating and capital budgets as well as support ongoing monitoring of budgets. Responsible for the management and monitoring of HSD financial activity. Gathers information, analyzes and interprets data and disseminates information appropriately. **Responsibilities:** **Under the direction of the Assistant Director, HSD Finance and with latitude to exercise independent judgment:** + Ensures the completion of the Health Sciences Division (HSD) operating budgets using the UR Budget system. Works closely with HSD departmental finance staff to assist departments with operating budget preparation, clarifies budget guidelines and makes recommendations as needed. Responsible for the more complex HSD departmental budgets. Analyzes budget proposals to accurately interpret and document budget activity. Completes a variety of budget spreadsheets and reports for Sr. Financial Leaders. Serves as backup to the UR Budget MSU (Master System User). (35%) + Responsible for month-end and year-end general ledger close process for HSD. Analyzes and interprets HSD actual to budget Statement of Activities on a monthly basis. Identifies and researches material variances by working with HSD departmental administrators to ensure results are accurate and appropriate. Provides variance explanations for URMC consolidated financial statement reporting. Provides URMC allocation actual to budget variance explanations to divisional finance offices as requested. (20%) + Advises HSD departments on appropriate allocation methodologies. Manages the HSD allocation and divisional allocation spreadsheets. Verifies the year over year budgeted allocation variance explanations for reasonableness. Works closely with URMC divisions and affiliates to ensure HSD allocations reconcile to divisional FAO’s. Confirms the HSD allocations are set up correctly in the UR Financial System (URF). Reconciles MC Allocation transactions on a monthly basis across the entire University and affiliates. (10%) + Responsible for preparing the HSD capital budget using the URMC Capital Budget system. Assists departments with capital budget preparation, clarifies budget guidelines and makes recommendations as needed. Analyzes department budget proposals to accurately interpret and document budget activity. (10%) + Prepares and distributes the more challenging customer invoices for affiliate and non-affiliates on a monthly basis using URF Customer Invoice. Serves as main contact for assigned customers and completes monthly reconciliations. Manages the reconciliation process of all HSD customer account receivables to ensure they are reconciled on a monthly basis and variances are cleared in a timely manner. Prepares monthly aging receivable report for MC Finance Sr Leadership. (10%) + Reconciles HSD asset and liability ledger account balances to ensure completeness and accuracy on a monthly basis. Provides UR Central Finance ledger reconciliation confirmations on a quarterly basis; provides proof of reconciliations as requested. (5%) + Coordinates annual wage and salary program for HSD. Provides assistances to HSD departmental administrators as needed. Reviews wage and salary submissions for accuracy, completeness and adherence to University and URMC policies and procedures. (5%) + Coordinates and compiles HSD tax reports for key schedules of IRS Form 990.
