Requisition ID :17357 Employment Type :Full Time Job Category :EHS & Sustainability Work Location :Reno, NV (Whse) BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY: This position will report to a Team Manager, Industrial Safety Consultants. Senior Industrial Safety Consultants (Sr. ISCs) partner with MSC customers, MSC sales teams, MSC category managers, manufacturers of safety equipment and suppliers of safety services to improve our customers’ safety programs. ISCs use their knowledge and experience in hazard identification and assessment to guide MSC customers in selection and implementation of safety best practices, products, and services to reduce risk. This role will also assist the Team Manager, Industrial Safety Consultants in developing and coordinating ISC team activities such as meetings, trainings, and support of internal and external customers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Acts as a key resource for Safety Needs Analysis, standards, and product training for MSC customers and MSC sales teams with the goal of keeping our customers and associates safe. + Works closely with a customer’s Safety Director, Safety Manager, and/or Safety Responsible person(s) to develop solutions that will lead to a safer working environment. + Provides technical support for safety application opportunities to customers and MSC sales teams. + Coordinates local supplier support for Safety Training and Services in support of MSC sales teams. + Assists Business Team Leaders (BTLs) and Regional Directors as needed in coordinating supplier involvement in regional or district meetings. + Supports Strategic and Preferred supplier initiatives driven by the MSC category teams and becomes the primary point of contact for safety suppliers in the geography. + Provides local Exclusive Brand technical and product support. + Supports achievement of safety sales, gross margin, net profit, training, services (when available) and overall cost savings goals for their geographical area of responsibility. + Drives accelerated safety sales growth within geography and identified safety impact accounts. + Supports closing of new Safety accounts in conjunction with the local MSC sales team (including Business Development, National Accounts and Government). + Supports vending customer opportunities to deliver safety growth, net profit improvement, achievement of cost savings goals and assists in the achievement of branch vending signings. + Maintains a safety opportunity funnel to track progress and success on safety growth activities. + Participates in quarterly updates with the MSC safety category team. + Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose. + Supports and coordinates Safety initiatives and Industrial Safety Consultant engagement in National Accounts headquartered in their Division (East/West). Provides technical support in other ISC territories as needed. + Acts as a role model for Industrial Safety Consultants and consistently demonstrates MSC values and financial achievement. + Recognized as a leader within their market and amongst peers. Provides leadership to other associates within MSC. + Acts as a lead by coaching, mentoring, and directing work as assigned. Supports and participates in onboarding of new Industrial Safety Consultants. + Manages and supports others with complex customers and projects. + Consistently demonstrates best practices related to customer and territory engagement and company culture. + Participates in or serves in a leadership role on company special projects or initiatives. + Provides input in the development of Safety training initiatives as requested. + Leads meetings and trainings for the ISC team as requested. + Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS What You Need: + 1 or more years of experience in the Industrial Safety Consultant role. + Consistently demonstrates high performance in the Industrial Safety Consultant role. + 3 or more years of experience in a Safety related role with knowledge of safety products and services is required. + A High School diploma is required, a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience is preferred. + OSHA 30-hour training or Qualified Safety Sales Professional (QSSP) certification or equivalent is required. + Experience conducting safety and compliance training and assessments is preferred: Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Safety Training, Industrial Hygiene, Personal Protective Equipment assessments for example. + Advanced environmental, health or safety certifications are preferred: ASP/CSP, CSM, OHST, CHST, CIH, MSHA, CHMM for example. + Experience in the Industrial Distribution industry is preferred. Additional skills: + Thorough knowledge of OSHA General Industry Regulations, State OSHA Regulations (where applicable) and Industry Safety Standards. + Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
