The Senior Information Technology Manager Gaming is responsible for overseeing the gaming technology infrastructure and applications specific to the Jamul Casino Resort casino gaming environment, which includes slot machines, table games, cage, and related systems. This role is pivotal in maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading all gaming-related technology, encompassing both hardware and software.
The Senior Information Technology Manager Gaming will recommend and implement improvements to ensure efficient and effective gaming operations, while adhering to regulatory compliance and security standards. A key responsibility is ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of these systems. Additionally, this role involves strategic planning, budget management, regulatory compliance, vendor management, and staying abreast of emerging technologies.
The Senior Information Technology Manager Gaming will collaborate closely with executive leadership and decision-makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective gaming technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This individual will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices, providing direction and support to enhance gaming operations.
ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Planning
Participate in the negotiation of vendor contracts, the establishment of vendor relationships, and the management of vendors providing gaming equipment and software. Develop and implement gaming technology strategies that align with Jamul Casino Resort’s business objectives and maintain the organization’s competitive edge. Identify areas for improvement in gaming system optimization, performance, efficiency, and usability. Identify and mitigate potential risks related to gaming technology, including security threats and regulatory issues. Manage relationships with gaming system vendors to troubleshoot issues. Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems. Collaborate with the VP of IT and Executive Leadership in managing the financial aspects of the IT Department's gaming initiatives, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget reviews. Work with leadership to develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT gaming spending and initiatives.Deployment
Develop and implement IT gaming policies and procedures, including those related to architecture, security, recovery, standards, and service provision. Negotiate and administer vendor, outsource, and consultant contracts and service agreements. Ensure the security and integrity of gaming systems and software. Maintain accurate documentation of gaming system configurations, support procedures, and project documentation.Operational Management
· Oversee the IT gaming infrastructure and applications essential for the Casino Management System (CMS), including slot machines, Cage systems, table games, cash dispensing kiosks, and back-end systems.
· Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to gaming systems and equipment.
· Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities for hardware and software, including patching and updating.
· Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on the planning and execution of gaming-related technology projects and initiatives.
· Assist in the development and management of budgets for gaming technology-related expenses.
· Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures related to technology.
· Ensure adherence to relevant gaming regulations and standards.
· Ensure that security measures and access controls for sensitive gaming systems and data are maintained.
· Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and procedures and provide training to end-users as applicable and IT team members as applicable.
· Monitor system performance, efficiency, and usability, and recommend improvements.
· Manage vendor relationships regarding equipment and software, including orders, installations, and support.
· Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to IT technical staff and gaming department staff.
· Generate reports and analyze data related to gaming technology and performance.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields. Or equivalency in years of years of experience
Knowledge & Experience
· A minimum of 15 years of experience in managing and/or directing Casino Gaming professionals.
· Extensive knowledge of gaming technology, with a deep understanding of slot machines, table games, and other gaming technologies.
· Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of technical professionals.
· Considerable knowledge and hands-on experience in executing applicable industry standards and best practices related to the Gaming industry and Jamul Casino Resort systems.
· Experience in negotiating contracts, statements of work, building relationships, and managing vendors.
· Strong technical skills in relevant areas such as networking, software, and hardware.
· Proven experience in Gaming IT infrastructures, planning and development, project management, and policy development.
· Extensive experience in IT, particularly in casino gaming environments.
· Strong knowledge of gaming systems, hardware, and software.
· Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
· Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff, as well as vendors.
· Ability to lead and mentor a team of technical staff.
· Experience in planning, executing, and managing IT projects.
· Knowledge of gaming best practices, compliance, regulations, and standards.
· Proficiency and hands-on experience in maintaining major and leading casino gaming management systems, cash disbursement systems and platforms, applications, reporting tools, and software interface and integration between vendor systems.
