The Role

The Senior Lead Engineer will work in a challenging, hands-on environment supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other specialized customers in support of National Cyber Protection System (NCPS) initiatives.
 

The Main Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for multiple enterprise system requirements, design, development, implementation, and repairing of the DHS and Lumen sponsored solutions. The Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with peers, sponsor, and customers.

Basic Qualifications and Duties:
* A Bachelor’s Degree and/or Advanced degree in a technical discipline or 10+ years’ experience in the communications, network, and/or cyber security fields.
* Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work in a consultative manner with others, i.e. establish rapport, interview/fact-find, define requirements, present options/recommend solutions, follow-up, and customer focused behavior.
* The candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in system architecture and engineering disciplines. Specific technical knowledge of enterprise level networking and network security. 
* Designs requirements-based technical solutions in support of Lumen Cyber Security programs, projects, solutions and offerings, and assists with program start-up, transition and transformation of the solution or offering design into production.
* Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment with changing requirements and competing priorities.
* Must be willing to train junior engineers on the systems within the environment.
* Ability to follow MOP, open/update service tickets, anticipate problems, and proactively take corrective action.
* Must be willing to travel to customer locations as needed.
* Proven ability to work on-site with customers’ technical teams (i.e. engineers, analysts, security).
* Ability to work cross functionally with Engineers, Project Managers, and Developers
* Experience with Linux (Redhat, CentOS) at the command line and familiarity with server level technology (Apache, JBoss, SQL).
* Troubleshooting server issues: systems, applications and connectivity.
* Knowledge of PXE, Kickstart, Automated system builds
* Thorough understanding with virtualization and virtual networking (VMware).
* Familiarity with IPTables and SELinux.
* Familiarity with troubleshooting LDAP, Kerberos, OpenSSL certs, system hardening.
* Experience with Shell scripting, Perl or Python experience.
* Linux/Unix patch management.
* Experience with creating SOPs.
* Experience with working in a data center environment.
* Experience with system configuration management.
* Experience with Remedy, System Monitoring and project task tracking tools (i.e. Solarwinds/Nagios/JIRA)
* Available 24/7 for Network Outages and Maintenance window work.
* Hands on Tier 4 support

* Candidate must be a US Citizen and hold an active Department of Defense TOP SECRET SCI clearance to be considered for this position.

 

What We Look For in a Candidate 10+ years of experience in Information Security, Information Assurance (IA), or Cyber Security programs.Deep understanding of Information Assurance frameworks and Federal information security requirements (e.g. ISO 27000 series, NIST 800-53 and 800-171, NIST RMF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).Previous work experience with Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community, or other government agency (e.g. DHS, DOE, Veterans Affairs, etc.).Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent degrees or certifications.Candidate must be a US Citizen and hold an active Department of Defense TOPSECRET SCI clearance to be considered for this position.Education: Bachelors of Science degree or higher, preferably in Information Systems, Information Security, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a strong interest in, the cyber security field, with emphasis on Network Protection technologies and techniques.7+ years of experience in Information Security, Information Assurance (IA), or Cyber Security programs.7+ years of experience with system security concepts, system security assessments, threat and vulnerability management, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, vulnerability mitigation, and/or implementing and managing penetration testing tools.7+ years of experience in reporting status and recommendations for improvements to either federal government or commercial leadership.Experience in the planning, design and implementation of enterprise security architecture.Candidate will provide administrative support for information security systems and applications.Candidate will facilitate penetration testing and vulnerability assessments against system test beds and production systems to evaluate effectiveness of system configurations including validation of system software and hardware configurations. Candidate will perform security analysis and risk/vulnerability assessments and coordinate with ISSO teams to update security authorization documentation (SSP, SAP, etc.) as required.Compensation This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: PA
