Sr Manager, Data Analytics & Insights (TV Products)

Position Summary

The North American Service Business (NASB) is looking for a Data Analytics & Insights Manager to empower the various teams it supports with analytics and insights to enable them to make data driven decisions. The Data Analytics & Insights Team (DAI) inside of NASB predominantly supports 2 groups: the service partnership group (SPG) and the Products Group (PG). The SPG handles all partnerships and revenues associated with the ecosystem of OTT content service providers, content licensing partners, and product partners on the Samsung Smart TV platform and various app and gaming partners on the mobile platform. The PG develops service products such as The Art Store, Gaming Hub, Samsung News, Samsung Weather and the Galaxy Store.
This role will leverage Samsung’s data on its various platforms to understand product performance and further the team’s mission to help ensure the best possible product outcomes. Specifically, this role will have a focus on our home screen and universal guide product on TV but will have opportunities to provide analytics to other areas of our business both in the SPG and the PG and potentially beyond.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, analytical, and solutions-focused with the ability to unravel internal complexity/ambiguity, navigate the organization, and come to a quick understanding of the business and the relevant data. DAI strives for a culture of “teach-and-learn” and is looking for a candidate that wants to be part of a team and culture that always aspires to improve itself and others, is not afraid to challenge existing ideas and enjoys discovering new solutions. The position requires excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with all areas of the business. Being able to speak Korean would be a plus but not necessary.

Role and Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Become an expert on the Samsung data available to the group and strive to increase our access to further relevant sources of data inside and outside of SamsungBe a subject matter expert on our home screen/universal guide TV product and provide solutions to improve both the business and the processes that drive our businessCreate automation and process streamlining to simplify our stakeholder’s workEvolve our forecasting methodology to increase accuracy and forecasting timelinesCreate impactful and easy to understand data visualizationsOversee projects to expand our data infrastructure and tooling Communicate technical requirements to stakeholders and vendors of varying technical abilityEducate the wider group on our tooling and processes to increase overall data literacyCoordinate with different functions across the organization e.g. marketing, Samsung Ads or other business units, as necessary, to drive team goals

Skills and Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS required 8+ years of relevant experienceAbility to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems, and navigate large, global organizationsPassionate about technology and new media trendsSelf-motivated, assertive, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environmentMastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointEffective communication and interpersonal skillsProject management experienceExperience with SQL and Python/Pandas for data analytics, ETL and automationExperience with at least one BI system such as Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, Domo or similarKorean Language – Speaking/Writing is a plus
 

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in New York City, NY, is expected to be between $170,000 ~ $200,000.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
