This position is within the Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LSG) business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific reporting to the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD) Ward Hill, MA facility.

A day in the Life:

Lead a dedicated team of salaried and hourly employees to achieve logistics excellence and ambitious company goals while delighting the customer.Coordinate with cross-functional departments (purchasing, planning, commercial, operations, etc.) to develop the most efficient inbound, outbound, and facility-to-facility strategy while maintaining customer expectations.Provide divisional financial information (forecast revenue, reporting) and maintain annual budget targets in partnership with senior management.Initiate investigations into process failures, product failures, and safety incidents, determining and implementing appropriate corrective and preventive actions.Develop and implement a strategy of continuous improvement to include productivity and efficiency improvements.Drive effective communication within the distribution center and with other departments across the company.Provide opportunities for cross-training and leadership development through mentoring, coaching, performance reviews, and career development.Develop, mentor, and evaluate (PMDs) Transportation Managers, and develop Performance Improvement Plans when vital.Serve as an effective safety steward by ensuring accurate reporting of near misses and attending safety trainings.Operate a safe work environment through continuous safety awareness and full compliance to all EH&S programs and activities.Partner with EH&S to foster a safety-first culture and improve safety procedures and metrics. Serve as a safety steward by reporting near misses accurately and participating in safety trainings.

Keys to Success:

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

At least 5 years of relevant experience is required.Proven experience as a people leader.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required to effectively manage and motivate a large team, build relationships with employees, peers, and management, and prioritize customer satisfaction.Must have a consistent track record of optimally managing a financial P&L, building, and achieving an annual operating plan that drives year-over-year cost reductions.Must possess the leadership skills to take charge and inspire change by initiating actions.Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and change.Must have superb coordination skills to plan, coordinate, and set priorities to facilitate timely execution.Must possess strong systems (including database management and reporting) and project management skills; must be PC literate in Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word.Knowledgeable of MSDS for relevant products.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).Knowledge of MRP systems.Consistent, dependable, and accurate in carrying out responsibilities.Follows and provides direction accurately and efficiently.Excellent communication skills.Maintains personal composure in high-paced and stressful situations.Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
