Position summary
As a senior manager, you provide mentorship and support to keep project teams focussed on objectives as well as coordinating projects requiring in-depth understanding of chemical & life science regulations and cross-divisional scope.
This includes conducting hazard assessments, conducting chemical notifications and registrations, and communication regarding regulatory and scientific issues with partners to ensure an understanding of challenges.
The senior manager will also be responsible for supervising regulatory functions to build and maintain regulatory information systems that meet organisation objectives
The applicant should ideally have a broad understanding of global chemical control regulations such as REACH, TSCA, etc. and familiarity with biocide laws, microplastics, and international conventions. The ideal candidate will be someone who has an in-depth and operational understanding of biosafety and chemical regulations, has experience working with regulatory agencies and grows with working with diverse challenges. Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight and support for all major filings e.g. REACH registrationsLeadership of the Biosafety team Serve as guide business liaison across the organisationDevelop, refine and maintain training on corporate standards for meeting the company’s compliance obligations regarding chemicals and life sciences.Interpretation and application of information on local, regional, and global regulatory intelligence and other related information.Evaluate the regulatory environment and chip in by providing creative and innovative internal advice throughout the product lifecycleLead and deliver on all key projects supporting key strategic imperativesProvide regulatory support to internal and external customers including proactive engagement with the R&D teams to seek innovative solutions to reducing product and or process hazardsSupport Product Lifecycle Management tools and requirementsAssist in the development and implementation of policies, objectives, plans and procedures for chemical compliance programs.Leadership, management, motivation and mentor of team membersRequired Qualifications
Bachelor/Master degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Law or related subjectExperience
Minimum 5 years regulatory experience in product stewardship / regulatory affairs / compliance / chemical consultancy / risk assessmentExperienced in all aspects of EU / UK / US chemical & life sciences regulatory compliance.Experienced in Biosafety managementPeople management experienceHas optimally worked within trade associations and/or sectorial advocacy groupsExperience in multiple aspects of product stewardship, including risk assessment, hazard classification & labellingKnowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to read, interpret and operationalise chemical regulationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
