We're seeking a Senior Manager to lead Retail Pricing in Japan. Pricing is a critical component of Amazon's customer-centric flywheel and is fundamental to Amazon's commitment to being Earth's most customer-centric company – it directly impacts customer trust, selection, and our ability to deliver the best possible value. As prices are one of the most visible expressions of our customer obsession, this role sits at the intersection of innovation, technology, and business strategy. This high-visibility leadership role carries significant organizational impact, directly influencing Amazon Japan's business performance through strategic pricing decisions. As the single-threaded leader for Retail Pricing, you will manage a multi-disciplinary team while working across borders with senior stakeholders in Japan and worldwide. The role demands regular engagement with VP-level leadership, shaping strategic direction and driving critical business decisions. Your scope extends beyond traditional pricing management – you'll influence technology investments, guide innovation initiatives, and drive cultural transformation in how we approach pricing across the organization. Success in this role means directly impacting customer experience, market competitiveness, and business profitability in one of Amazon's key international markets, while developing and scaling next-generation pricing capabilities that could be adopted globally.
Key job responsibilities
• Serve as the single-threaded leader for Retail Pricing strategy and execution in Japan
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of product and program managers
• Define and implement the strategic vision for pricing initiatives that drive business growth
• Partner with Technology, Data Science, and Econ teams to develop innovative pricing solutions through data-driven experimentation
• Influence cross-functional stakeholders across US, Japan, and EU markets
• Drive executive-level communication and strategic alignment with JP and Worldwide VPs
• Oversee end-to-end pricing programs from conception to implementation
• Identify opportunities for innovation in pricing strategies and technologies
