Collins Aerospace is seeking a skilled and experienced Sr. Quality Engineering Manager for our Burnsville, MN location. This site specializes in designing and building advanced aerospace sensor systems that collect in-flight data such as air speed, angle of attack, pressure, and temperature.

As the Sr. Quality Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful introduction of new products and the maintenance of existing manufacturing processes to ensure the delivery of defect-free parts to our customers. Your approach will be driven by a zero-defect mindset and the use of formal quality tools and methodologies, such as 8D root cause and corrective action, and the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

This position requires a proven leader with the ability to build strong relationships, foster collaboration, and develop high-performing teams.  In this role you will lead the Product Quality Engineering team and be responsible for setting direction and aligning resources to ensure continuous quality improvement.

What You Will Do:

Supervise, coach, and mentor others in routine settings and difficult situations to build a high-performing Product Quality Engineering team, ensuring product quality and compliance with regulatory, industry, customer, and company requirements.

Demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving goals and delivering high-quality outcomes by effectively prioritizing tasks, managing time efficiently, and using data-driven decision-making to overcome obstacles.

Execute quality plans for the successful introduction of new products (NPI), including risk assessments, process validations, and first article inspections (FAI), to ensure that new products meet all quality and performance criteria before full-scale production.

Advocate and lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control plans, SPC, etc.), and identify areas of opportunity for product and process improvements using baseline factory metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, etc.).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and supply chain, to address quality issues and drive continuous improvement.

Monitor and lead root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) activities for systemic issues to ensure effective RCCA.

What You Will Learn:

Enhance your ability to convey information clearly and concisely to various audiences, both verbally and in writing, providing regular feedback to senior management and stakeholders.

Strengthen your understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events, or experience with a continuous improvement program (CORE).

Enhance your problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience

Prior experience in quality, manufacturing, or design engineering, preferably within the aerospace, defense, or other regulated industry.

Experience managing large teams of early to mid-career professionals within a highly matrixed organization.

Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Manufacturing Process Reviews (MPR), First Article Inspection (FAI), Characteristic Accountability & Verification (CA&V), and formal Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).

Familiarity with special processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, brazing, painting, plating, and welding) and experience with material nonconformance review boards (MRB) and corrective action boards (CAB).

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
