Sr Manager, Software Dev, Japan Store Tech, Japan Store Tech
Description As part of International Technology org focused on Japan Retail growth, we have a mission to build delightful and highly intuitive website focusing on Japan First experience to serve our local customers needs. We are looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a development team in developing new features on Amazon Japan website and across all platforms (desktop, mobile browser, mobile shopping app). A successful candidate will have an established background in developing full-stack customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. In this team you will have the opportunity to: · Solve challenging problems at significant scale · Be an actively contributing member of an agile development team, and have direct influence on the design, architecture, and implementation of a mission critical projects Key responsibilities: · Responsible for the overall software development lifecycle · Help define the long-term strategy and translate that into an achievable roadmap · Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments · Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment · Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team · Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior management Professional traits that are not unique to this position, but necessary for Amazon leaders: · Exhibits excellent judgment · Hires and develops great people · Has relentlessly high standards (is never satisfied with the status quo) · Is able to dive deep and is never out of touch with the details of the business or the technology · Expects and requires innovation of her/his team · Has passion and conviction and the innate ability to inspire passion in others · Strong results orientation · Thinks big Basic Qualifications - 10+ years of engineering experience - 5+ years of engineering team management experience - 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment Preferred Qualifications - Experience partnering with product and program management teams - Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
