Sr Manager of Engineering, Content Management

Yahoo's Media Platform team enables core media business capabilities across Yahoo products in News, Finance, and Sports. We provide products and services to help each product enable use cases faster and cost-effectively. As a result, they can leverage advanced capabilities that any independent vertical would not be able to buy or build. The Content Management team in the Media Platform aims to create the best experience for content creators, from onboarding to audience engagement. As a fullstack Sr. SDE  you will lead the team, you'll drive the strategic vision and execution of cutting-edge solutions, example integrating AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance content creation and enrichments. Collaborate with Product and Business leaders to deliver scalable, reusable components. These include microservices and cloud-native solutions on AWS and GCP. In addition, you will work closely with Data Science and Engineering teams to leverage data-driven insights and machine learning to continuously optimize user experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in agile methodologies and cloud technologies, while building strong cross-functional partnerships and leading impactful initiatives.


 

Responsibilities:

Work with engineers, designers, product and stakeholders to execute on the new vision for Yahoo.com and different yahoo website properties

Manage and lead engineers and managers in the team, provide leadership and direction

Design technical solutions for complex problems and lead the implementation

Lead and coordinate engineers activities; Be responsible for their delivery and meeting goals

Review their work for quality and provide mentoring, coaching

Plan, prioritize the work for the team quarterly and execute them based on sprint schedule

Accountable for performance, results of the team

Influence partner teams and deliver results meeting the objectives of the organization

Support establishment and execution of organizational priorities 

A Lot About You:

You are willing and able to write code from time to time, although that is not a day to day part of this role. You are excited to get into the weeds and be hands on, but you know when to trust engineers to execute

You give continuous clear feedback to your direct reports. Engineers on your team know when they are below, meeting or exceeding expectations

You excel at explaining technical concepts to anyone and everyone. People enjoy collaborating with you


Qualifications:

BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with strong understanding of the fundamentals including Data Structures, Algorithms, OS and Networking 

8+ years experience in software development with Javascript, ReactJS or other modern JS framework

5+ years experience in owning, designing components of large scale system 

5+ Experience in managing engineers and leading a team

Demonstrated problem solving skills and taking initiatives


Preferred:

Experience in languages like TypeScript

Experience in technologies like Next.js, FastAPI, and Tailwind

Experience in large-scale digital content publishing - CMS systems 

Experience using ML and AI techniques that drive product featuresFamiliarity with Python, JAVA, JS linting tools (e.g., ESLint)

Proven experience with launching and managing web applications

Strong understanding of Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) and its implementation

Proficiency in troubleshooting network errors and debugging issues

Experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines

Knowledge of AWS ECS Fargate for container orchestration

Proficiency with AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and logging

Hands-on experience with Next.js for server-side rendering and static site generation

Proficiency with React and modern React testing frameworks (e.g., React Testing Library, Enzyme)

Ability to work with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries

Experience with containerization and orchestration tools

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
