The position will be mainly responsible for leading product and material development projects related to rubber-insulated cables and compounds.
Cable Development
Collaborate with Sales to understand new product opportunities and requirementsLead projects to identify or develop solutions to new product needs and to qualify against customer and industry standard requirementsUnderstand in detail relevant industry standards and serve as a technical contact between Prysmian and notifying bodies used to certify product complianceIdentify and pursue opportunities to improve the cost and environmental impact of both new and existing cable productsOwn and maintain Prysmian’s certifications for new and existing products and implement test programs to ensure complianceCompound Development
Develop and test new compounds to support cable product development projectsOwn and maintain formulations for rubber-based compounds produced in Emmen, and support processing, quality, or troubleshooting projects for the Emmen plant or other internal customersIdentify and test new material technologies that can be applied to compounds to improve cost, performance, or environmental impactLead projects to qualify new supplies of raw materials, ensuring that single-sourced materials or significant supply chain risks are addressedAdditional Responsibilities
Through daily activities, maintain and improve high safety standards and act as an example and advocate for safe practices in the lab and production facilitiesLead cross-functional project teams, and clearly communicate progress, challenges, impact, and timing of all projects to relevant stakeholdersReport regularly on key metrics for both cable and compound development, including environmental impact, cost, and new product implementationWork closely with the R&D lab team to prioritize and conduct testing programs, ensuring that testing is done with respect to larger development goals and timelinesWork closely with compound and cable processing teams to understand and support process development needsSupport other daily activities, including safety and 6S tasks and other plant or lab management initiativesQualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or hard science discipline, materials-related field preferred (Chemical, Materials, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, etc.)Experience in wire and cable product development and/or rubber compounding preferredEnglish language proficiency required; Dutch language or willingness to learn preferredProject leadership experience required, preference for new product and/or materials development projectsBasic computer proficiency required (Microsoft Office, Outlook)Additional computer skills preferred (VBA or other programming language, SAP, Access, Sharepoint)Occasional travel, mostly within the Netherlands may be requiredPrysmian , as an Equal Opportunity Employer, aims to attract and recruit individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities.
