The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the as the SPY-6 Above Deck Equipment TRIMM product line.  The SPY-6 Raytheon franchise program is in full rate production and delivers next generation S-Band radars to defeat advanced threats.  The engineer will be responsible to support the continued high volume transmit/receive module production line and be agile to address any mechanical, manufacturing or supplier concerns with the product line.

This position is onsite in Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:

• Mechanical design, analysis and documentation of hardware and systems

• Executing as part of, or leading/managing, a small team during production, drawing updates, change notice incorporation, and and change request resolution

• Solving complex technical problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

• Providing factory and supplier support

• Assessing part obsolescence issues and generating qualification plans

• Holding and participating in design reviews and resolving action items

• Interacting with senior external personnel on significant technical matters requiring coordination within and between organizations

• Experience with writing Material Review Board white papers and a technical understanding of the content

• This position will require interfacing with other mechanical engineers, designers, and structural /thermal analysts, as well as engineers from other disciplines

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline

6 years of relevant professional experience

Experience participating in design and development activities

Willing to travel domestically in support of Mechanical and Program activities, with frequent travel between the Marlborough, Tewksbury and Andover facilities

An active and in-scope DoD US security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

Advanced degree in Engineering discipline

Raytheon Technologies process improvement ie CORE/ Six Sigma Certification

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written

Collaborate in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative

Experience in support of  production hardware

Typically requires:

A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
