Job Overview
The Die Engineer will be part of a Manufacturing Development Engineering Team for the Appliances Business Unit. This team is considered the global process leaders for stamping, molding and the assembly of terminals, housings, and connectors for the appliance industry. The Die Engineer will need to provide expertise in Die tooling design and stamping processes. They will work with Project Manager and global suppliers to design and develop dies to be implemented into the Appliances manufacturing plants, suppliers, and other TE Connectivity manufacturing plants. The Die Engineer is expected to utilize TE Connectivity Centers of Excellence ideas and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) on die tool capacity builds, process improvements, and redesign projects.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for Die Design and Development of die tooling and processes to support new product development and time to launch the dies at plant
• Participate in design reviews, optimize die designs, and have a good working knowledge of Creo 7.0, AutoCAD software packages, have the capability to finish the die design individually on time according to project schedule
• Ensure dies and stamping processes are designed to be capable of producing good quality products efficiently and effectively at the lowest possible cost
• Conduct print reviews of new product and provide recommendations to improve the design and the manufacturability
• Implement best demonstrated stamping practices into new molds
• Identify and recommend stamping press requirements in design review process
• Provide cost estimations for new die tooling and parameters
• Assess and provide risk analysis and risk mitigation for dies and stamping processes
• Finish all deliverables according to project request like as DFM, PFMEA, TAR, RFQ
• Experience in collaborating with global cultures in a project manager led / team environment
• Generate Tooling Approval Requirements for a die and stamping process which includes defining capability study requirements
• Work with TE Connectivity manufacturing plants and global suppliers to design, build, and condition new dies and other typical stamping dies
• Evaluate the overall dimensions of a stamped product and make recommendations for improvements before releasing the die into production
• 70% work for new development projects, 30% work focusing on process improvement, planned capacity build, cost reduction
• Good communication skills and the ability to articulate technical data effectively
• 10% of traveling may be required
• The Die Engineer will report to Appliances Manufacturing Development Engineering Manager
Position Requirements:
• Proficient verbal and written English are preferred
• 8-10 years in die design is preferred and familiar with stamping processing
• B.S. Die Engineering, Mechanical design
• Good communication skills
• Must be able to effectively work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
• Strong aptitude for problem solving
• Flexible work schedule to work with global teams
