Your Impact

The Senior Manager-Workers Compensation will assist the Director of Workers Compensation in overseeing and managing the operational excellence of the Workers Compensation Program. Using knowledge of the industry, Lowe's operations, and key analytical concepts, this role will manage TPA activities to ensure enhanced associate experience and to deliver cost effective, Best-in-Class claim resolutions. This is accomplished by evaluating complex operational programs using key insights, trends, and benchmarking; by recommending innovative solutions; and by implementing strategies or processes that drive outcomes. The Senior Manager should also be able to illustrate a high degree of cross-functional problem solving through collaboration, identification, measurement, recommendation, and execution. The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing the communication platform, litigation management program and communication standards to ensure Workers Compensation program delivers best-in-class outcomes. They will also be expected to act as a subject matter expert and exhibit thought leadership to assist in developing and mentoring team members and to enhance collaboration with business partners across the Lowe's universe.

What You Will Do

Manages the day-to-day interface and expectations with the Workers Compensation TPA and, any and all, subcontracted vendor relationships

Reviews analyses, trends, or key insights monthly, quarterly and/or annually to assess the program performance against OKR’s, internal metrics and external benchmarks; recommends creative solutions to WC leadership and implements initiatives to ensure Best-in Class outcomes and ROI

Conducts cost-benefit, feasibility and business/use cases for major projects that drive enhancements to the WC Program

Leads vendor sourcing or project management activities to promote effective decision making and continuous improvement

Develops annual OKRs (including leading and lagging indicators) directly tied to Lowe’s Finance and/or Claims Operations’ initiatives

Monitors TPA’s goals and takes action to make sure all deliverables and deadlines are met within the workstreams and program timelines

Establishes and implements standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation and the occupational injury benefit plan

Oversees administration of TX non-subscription program which includes review and revision of the ERISA Plan, vendor partner evaluation, annual compliance management, managing discovery requests, mediation/trail preparation in conjunction with Legal, litigation panel management, claim review leadership and on-going cost benefit analysis

Manages the overall RTW program by working cross-functionally to impart optimal outcomes and to ensure program is meeting or exceeding industry leading best practices. Collaborates with the Lowe’s Nurse Manager, HR, Legal and Store Operations to identify gaps, develop strategies and design workflows to increase utilization of Lowe’s temporary transitional duty program and to minimize leakage and transitional duty duration

Evaluates RTW effectiveness through key metrics/analyses/trends and communicates key insights to WC leadership and to relative business partners to support strategic alignment and increased outcomes for Lowe’s associates and Store Operations

Manages the litigation program by ensuring WC Panel of attorneys is performing at optimal levels; develops and maintains Lowe’s litigation management guidelines; works with subcontracted bill review vendor to measure compliance with guidelines and to assess optimal fee return; communicates expectations and performance through multiple communication workstreams on a quarterly and annual basis; participates in Legal claim reviews and drives counsel to develop strategies for early resolution at cost effective rates; evaluates firms performance through scorecards, KPI’s, trends and benchmarking; leads RFPs as necessary

Seeks out and ensures resolution models challenge status quo and promote creative, innovative, and early exit strategies

Reviews and provides consultation on WC claim settlements and reserves up to $300,000

Acts as the SME with internal/external business partners on complex matters involving workers compensation or occupational injury benefit plan

Designs and oversees the communication platform for Store Operations and internal/external business partners which fosters education, awareness, and adoption to change around processes and workflows; and articulates outcomes, measurable performance, and opportunities for improvement to WC Leadership and internal /external business partners through various mediums

Manages and mentors Claims Analyst

Required Qualifications:


• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management or Accounting
• 8 years Corporate Risk Management experience managing workers compensation programs
• 5 years supervisory experience - both direct and indirect supervision
• 5 years progressive experience within a Fortune 50 retail company

Preferred Qualifications:


• 5 years' experience managing TX non-subscription program including claims administration, managed care, litigation and QCare
• ARM, CPCU or MBA

Pay Range: $107,800.00 - $179,700.00 annually
