Next Generation Sequencing Technical Sales Specialist, Clinical Sequencing
Locations:
This is an outside sales position covering a territory that includes IL, IN, WI and Michigan. Residency within IL or Michigan is required, no relocation assistance provided.
How will you make an impact?
The Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Sales Specialist will have strong sales, technical and product expertise. Primary responsibilities will be to successfully drive the enablement of Ion Torrent platforms with clinical oncology, reproductive health, translational research customers through instrument placement and assay uptake within the defined geography.
The NGS Sales Specialist will support Ion Torrent Key Opinion Leaders success and develop high level relationships with the purpose of making these engagements successful as positive Ion Torrent references in the market.
The position must demonstrate deep technical knowledge and credibility and effectively collaborate with existing customers and prospects to influence key decisions on technology and product choice and to effectively lead internal resources and their successful deployment to drive customer success.
They will ensure tight alignment with the Business Unit and maintain a level of communication with the product teams passionate about training needs, market feedback, and product development input.
What will you do?
Develop and lead an effective business plan for the territory to meet and exceed goals agreed upon with commercial managementDemonstrate deep technical ability, capability and knowledge to challenge customers on their oncology testing needs to improve technology utilization and promote/educate on current advances in protocols, assays and capabilitiesUnderstands and navigates complex and sophisticated offerings to the best position Thermo Fisher solutionsConsistently and accurately lead sales processes for instrument and consumable purchases (e.g. forecasting, pipeline management, prospecting) using Salesforce and other designated IT toolsWork in a matrixed environment including cross divisional and distribution channel teamsCall within various levels of an organization including the lab, procurement, legal, middle management and C suite leadershipApply strong analytical skills to translate a successful account strategy into positive business resultsDevelop and maintain current knowledge of next generation sequencing markets, products, and buying practices required to efficiently succeed in the assigned territoryApply both product and application knowledge to successfully conduct consultative and strategic selling presentationsUnderstand customer goals, priorities, and challenges such that company solutions are best positioned to address customer needsHow will you get here?
Minimum Qualifications:BA/BS or MS degree in Life Sciences6+ years of Sales Experience in clinical/life science with consistent achievement of sales goalsExperience in executive-level customer engagementStrong technical competence in the areas of Next Generation Sequencing, Capillary Electrophoresis (Sanger) Sequencing, Microarray and qPCR/digital PCR in the clinical oncology and/or translational market spaceUnderstanding of healthcare industry standards, reimbursement guidelines, and environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsHighly motivated and accepts a high-reaching and exciting work environmentExcellent time management, interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work independently and with broader teams when neededOutstanding customer advocacy skillsHighly adaptable and independentAbility to travel 50%Fluent English- oral and written. Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $88,000.00–$131,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
