**Job Description:**
We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager to lead our Downstream Processing team. This role will be crucial in overseeing all aspects of our downstream operations, ensuring we meet our production targets while maintaining the highest safety, quality and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in people leadership and biologics operations, with the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
**About the role:**
As the Senior Operations Manager you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Downstream Processing team in our Biopharmaceutical plant in Leiden, the Netherlands. Reporting to the Director Downstream Processing, and as part of the DSP management team, you will lead and develop a diverse group of operations teams that work in 16/7, 24/7 or day shift regimes. Your top priorities are delivering on our production commitments in line with Safety, Quality and Compliance regulations in order to meet customer needs. The role is based in Leiden and requires onsite presence.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ You lead and coach a large operational team of (senior) supervisors, manufacturing process specialists and (senior) manufacturing operators (> 160 FTE). You coach supervisors in effectively leading their teams, you provide guidance and support, you set objectives aligned with the business goals and you ensure a motivated and engaged team is in place.
+ You ensure key performance indicators regarding Safety, Quality, Reliability and Cost are met. You evaluate production performance and take appropriate action where needed in close collaboration with all functions and stakeholders.
+ You ensure compliance with cGMP regulations, and foster a strong quality culture on the shop floor. You align competences and training with the batch execution of our established and new biopharmaceutical products.
+ As Senior Operations Manager DSP you work closely together with the (Sr.) Operations managers in Upstream Processing (USP) and Services. You closely collaborate with multiple departments such as Quality assurance, Quality control, Maintenance and engineering.
+ You foster a LEAN culture and you champion continuous improvement, challenging the status quo and leading the development and implementation of initiatives that improve overall organizational performance in a sustainable way.
+ You build a culture of high engagement and ownership at all levels in your organization by actively living our Credo values and acting as role model in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
**Qualifications**
+ You have a master’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
+ You have at least 8-10 years of working experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
+ A proven track record of people management and a demonstrated strong leadership style.
**Experience and Skills:**

+ You have a strong safety and quality mindset and strong compliance orientation.
+ You communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.
+ Solid understanding of operational standard processes
+ Proven track record of successfully leading and inspiring change in a complex operational environment
Preferred:
+ Experience in a pharmaceutical or Downstream Processing environment.
+ Familiarity with LEAN methodologies.
