Sr Principal, Research

About the role:

We're seeking an experienced Senior Principal in the Human Resources Research Practice to contribute to the Employee Experience (EX) key initiative. This initiative supports organizations in crafting employee experience strategies that align with EVP promises, foster a culture of engagement, and enhance employee retention, ultimately driving both talent and business outcomes.

A Senior Principal’s job involves managing end-to-end research by investigating, analyzing, and writing about critical issues facing senior-level executives, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Additional responsibilities include fostering the discovery of innovative ideas and insights while mentoring junior researchers to build a strong pipeline of research leaders and deliver exceptional quality to our clients. Ultimately, a researcher’s aim is to support world-class clients with actionable business insights and best practices, helping them tackle complex challenges and drive meaningful transformations within their organizations.

Gartner's research is often cited in major news outlets including Forbes, Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post, and The Economist, allowing our firm to extend our impact even further.

What you will do:

Collaborate with a research team through Gartner's proprietary research process including hypothesis generation, primary and secondary research, and root cause analysis to identify best-in-class solutions

Drive key findings from complex datasets and use findings to develop analytically sound, logically ordered research pieces

Independently create and manage such key research deliverables for HR leaders on the topics of EX, including large research studies, articles, white papers, case studies, presentations and webinars, guidebooks, templates, round-table discussions, or custom, in-bound research requests

Conduct interviews with senior executives, academics and industry experts in search of innovative ideas

Develop insights that are practical and actionable (not academic) to be grounded in clients’ workflows

Be a key member of the Research team, by contributing and owning entire project life-cycles - from conception to completion and improving the quality of intellectual debates

Present research findings and closely collaborate with senior management and stakeholders, defend key ideas, and advance insights iteratively based on feedback

Mentor, develop, and motivate one or more researchers across the entire project life-cycle

What you will need:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, master’s preferred

7+ years of relevant experience

Experience and comfort with analyzing, synthesizing, and distilling large amounts of quantitative and qualitative information

Strong appetite to dive deep into a given terrain to develop expertise and distill key findings

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with particular attention to precision of language and ability to organize information logically

Intellectual curiosity and dedication to mastering complex environments; Aspiration to continuously learn and improve

Ability to manage projects and drive ideas forward to advance initiatives

Strong organizational skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality material

Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
