Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Sr. Principal Subcontracts Specialist – Category Management to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The Category Management Subcontracts Specialist ensures the category management organization aligns with the business’s overall goals by incorporating Division/Program goals, affordability targets, and schedules across the sector with category management activities.
Responsibilities include integrating corporate efforts, category technical capabilities, and program forecasts/opportunities to ensure the sector’s category management efforts are proactive and strategic.
In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to:
Develop subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for the procurement of services, specialized materials, and/or equipment in line with category assignmentsDrive scope definition and implementation of strategies across multiple categories & programsPrepares bid packages, conducts bidders conferences, analyzes and evaluates proposals, performs price/cost analyses, negotiates subcontract provisions, selects or recommends subcontractors, writes awards, and administers resulting subcontractsIdentifies strategies and opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and manage risk through strategic and targeted negotiationsNegotiates and coordinates additions, deletions, or modifications to subcontractsApply standard Aerospace & Defense purchasing/procurement methodology to spend categories to achieve organizational objectives, best value for the enterprise, and achievement of target return on investments (ROI).Support sector initiatives/ special projects as requiredEstablish vendor-managed inventory (VMI), long-term agreements, strategic agreements, blanket agreements, and negotiate favorable terms and conditionsMonitor market dynamics and communicate changes that affect internal customer needsManage internal and external relationships and supplier partnershipsBasic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of experience in supply chain management, project management, sustainment, proposals, and/or procurement OR a master’s degree with at least 6 years of experience in supply chain management, project management, sustainment, proposals, and/or procurement12 years of supply chain, project management, sustainment, proposals, and/or procurement may be considered in lieu of a degreeMust have FAR/DFARS experienceExperience building teams and interfacing/ collaborating with Programs and other organizations within and outside of Global Supply ChainAbility to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company to meet its business needsPreferred Qualifications:
Master's degree and 8+ years of supply chain, contracts, business management, or related experienceAbility to multi-task and make sound decisions in a timely mannernegotiating contracts over $10 MillionBudgeting experience and EVM knowledgeWorking knowledge sector categories, including a solid understanding of engineering/technical requirementsAbility to understand engineering practices and work within the technology arena to further the connection between the technology roadmaps and Global Supply ChainAbility to plan schedule and arrange activities to accomplish objectivesExceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to model and promote a strong sense of engagement, teamwork, and cooperationSAP experienceExceptional written and verbal communication and organizational skillsSignificant experience managing supply chain riskSalary Range: $98,100.00 - $147,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
