Sr Product Cost Engineer, Amazon Custom Modules

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The should-cost engineer will be responsible for building detailed cost models, bench marking component costs, and supporting live negotiations with suppliers. You will interact with multiple levels within the organization and multiple functions and therefore will need to be adaptable in understanding the needs of different stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities
* Building detailed should-cost models across different electro mechanical product (e.g., PCBAs, mechanical server chassis) for new products and products in production.
* Driving excellence throughout the should-cost modeling execution and establish mechanism to scale and streamline across similar products.
* Conducting should-cost training and coach other junior cost engineers.
* You are the owner of Should-Cost Strategy and need to be ‘customer obsessed’ while being independent enough to fully identify the appropriate value capture path.
* Influence and serve as an expert to aid in design for cost/value and improve product cost, manufacturing cost and integration cost.
* Playing a critical, technical fact base holder role in supplier negotiations.
* Travel: Candidates need to be willing to travel internationally 30% or more, visiting suppliers and key functions to embed our Should-Cost approach
