The Professional Staff Nurse OR is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse OR is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse OR has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse OR manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Professional Staff Nurse OR encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Professional Staff Nurse OR establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse OR demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
Responsibilities:
Patient assessment. Documentation. Utilization of preference cards, knowledge, and experience to learn/know procedures and surgeon preferences and to anticipate the needs of the patient and surgical team (in the scrub role and circulator role). Translate learned skills to other facets of practice (e.g. Using knowledge of how to scrub a procedure to better anticipate the needs of the team) Performs scrub role (requirement for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023). *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.*Performs other duties as assigned.
