Your impact

AGCO is currently seeking engineers to join our new “Smart Ag” innovation team in Canoas, RS.  This team has a strong “Farmer First” focus with a high emphasis on identifying farmer’s problems or needs.  Team members will lead the way on the rapid innovation and development of products with a direct return on investment for end users, separate from AGCO’s traditional engineering projects and processes.  Acquire an in-depth understanding of agricultural systems and processes. Find, understand, and clearly communicate farmers’ problems and the associated value in addressing their problems. Display curiosity in providing market-leading solutions to farmer’s/customer’s problems. Use of mechanical, electrical, and software technologies to create solutions to solve these problems. Be hands on during design processes and willing to get your “boots dirty”. Generate clear documentation and presentation of ideas and results. Accept failure as a part of innovation and rapidly transition to the next idea. Work effectively within a small, high-performing team.  Small teams will also need close cooperation with global electronics and software departments and road maps.  Possess a good attitude, culture, and drive to create the best atmosphere for innovation. Manage agile engineering projects to ensure delivery of rapid innovation while monitoring project timelines and budgets. Lead a group of engineers - ability to motivate and positively influence individuals and groups with or without holding direct authority. Provide thought leadership. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other AGCO sites and functions. Coordinate contract design. Keeps abreast of the latest technological advancements to allow for development of innovative product designs to gain competitive market advantages for AGCO Corporation. The position requires some (~10% but can be as high as 20% during application seasons) travel for training, meeting with team members, and working with equipment in the field.

 

Your experience and qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or other relevant technical degrees or experience. Mechanical Skills Desired: 3D CAD experience (Creo experience a plus). Experience with manufacturing practices. Hands-on experience working with equipment and machinery. Mechanical design experience (castings, sheet metal, plastic, etc.) Electrical Skills Desired: Schematic and harness design experience (PCB design experience a plus). Experience with design or use of sensors and their integration into systems designs. Software Skills Desired: Background or experience with controller hardware specification, software architecture definition, requirements creation, coding, deployment, validation, and software maintenance. Experience with developing and interfacing with graphical user interfaces. Experience with C, C ++, Visual Studio, Linux, Python, MATLAB, or other languages in embedded controls applications. Experience with GitHub. Current ability or ability to become proficient in mobile machinery communication protocols and standards, specifically SAE J1939 and ISO 11783. Knowledge of common communication networks (CAN, Ethernet, Bluetooth). Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems, identify viable solutions, and make data-driven decisions. Experience in contract administration, including negotiating and managing contracts with consultants, subcontractors, and vendors. Understanding of financial and commercial aspects of projects and experience in business development or project pursuits desired. Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering projects from concept to completion.

 

A Plus If You Have

Experience in the agricultural industry and agricultural equipment. Experience with BOTH mechanical and electrical or software technologies. Agronomic training or background.
