Sr Project Engineer

As a member of JTF Sierra, you will be part of SNC's innovation cell, tasked with driving cutting-edge solutions to complex problems. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical management of your assigned projects, with a specific focus on engineering design, technical planning, and cost, schedule, performance tracking and reporting. You will ensure that all technical performance objectives are achieved, and you will also participate in business resource planning and tracking in coordination with other corporate entities.

As a Sr. Project Engineer, you will be responsible for building an engineering team that can fulfill program requirements, identifying, tracking, and resolving program issues and problems, and managing program risk.

You will support the program director and Business Operations in fulfilling their responsibilities and play a crucial role in driving innovation and success at SNC through JTF Sierra.

Responsibilities:  

Lead the engineering design and development efforts for assigned projects.Provide technical direction and oversight to the project team, ensuring adherence to technical standards, engineering processes and best practices. Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure project deliverables meet quality and performance standards.Project Planning and Execution: Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. Track project progress against milestones and deliverables, making adjustments as necessary to ensure successful project completion.Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, ensuring their requirements and expectations are met.Communicate technical status, issues, and resolutions to customers and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.Cost and Schedule Management:Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints.Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.Prepare and present technical reports and documentation, including progress reports, technical summaries, and final project reports.Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory and company standards.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure successful project execution.Identify, track, and resolve technical issues and problems, escalating when necessary.Identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project performance.Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions as needed.Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the project team, leveraging new technologies and methodologies to enhance project outcomes.Stay current with industry trends and advancements, incorporating relevant innovations into project plans.

Must-haves:

Bachelor's of Science degree in a related field of studyTypically, 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, which includes 6+ years of management experience.Expert knowledge of engineering principles and practiceExperience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teamComprehensive understanding of requirements management, system design, integrationFamiliarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule managementProficient leadership abilities inclusive of successful change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountableAbility to manage complex situations, delegate authority, lead and inspire your team, drive innovative thinking, instill collaboration, drive for success, challenge status quo, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to dynamic situations Experience in team building, time management, conflict resolution, communication, briefing, presentation, strategic thinking, marketing, and literacy in the program management disciplines. Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternativesThe ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred:

Typically 6-8 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experienceExperience or certification in INCOSE standardBackground in the Aerospace and Defense IndustryProfessional Certification in Program Management International (PMI) and/or Program Management Professional (PMP)

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $189,761.74 - $260,922.39. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
