Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Administrative Manager (s) Research Projects Management ensures completion and performs a variety of functions related to the administrative aspects of research grants and contracts. Works with a variety of clients across all Brown University Health affiliates.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Administrative Manager (s) and Director in the development updating and communication of Hospital policies and procedures. Prepares a variety of special reports and analysis. May lead special projects as needed utilizing communication and organizational skills in achieving final goals.
Develops implements and ensures adherence to grants management policies and procedures related to administrative aspects of the management of grant applications grant awards and clinical trial activities.
Collaborates in the coordination of the development implementation and management of research information and accounting systems.
In coordination with the Director and the Administrative Manager(s) may conduct training sessions for investigators and other research staff.
Provides direct assistance guidance and resource information to Hospital personnel seeking new or continued funding for sponsored project activities. Activities include advising assisting drafting and reviewing proposals applications budget cost and program analyses verifications and other related activities. May assume responsibility for handling complex proposals or applications. Ensure negotiation of final terms of award and contract language. Maintains continual contact with Research Finance for smooth coordination of post award activities.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
A Baccalaureate Degree in health care biological sciences or related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted one to one in lieu of degree.
Must have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word Excel Access and Power Point.
Comfortable in public speaking and training environments.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in the field of research administration (grants and contracts regulations requirements) demonstrating knowledge of and ability to interpret related requirements and regulations and to communicate effectively.
Travel to and from various research sites in the Providence area.
Walking on the hospital campuses to various locations.
Normal office environment.
