Sr Risk Advisor
**Job Description** The Senior Risk Advisor will be responsible for providing audit and consulting services to our Diversified Business Group (DBG) portfolio with an emphasis on financial reporting, strategic, and entity-level risks and controls, as well as support the team in testing internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). This position will be responsible for collaborating with management to develop, strengthen, and operationalize key processes and internal controls at the organization’s various subsidiaries. This position will report to the Financial Audit & MAR Manager and will play an integral role in assisting the organization and its subsidiaries in designing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls. Key responsibilities include: + Assist Audit Manager in performing audit and consulting engagements related to key organizational initiatives such as business acquisitions, and corporate synergies. + Utilize the COSO internal control framework to assist management in the design, implementation, and monitoring of entity-level controls at the company’s subsidiaries to strengthen corporate governance, support and foster a strong control environment, and establish an enterprise framework for ongoing control activities. + Analyze organizational and financial processes to identify and assess risks, identify gaps, develop mitigation strategies, and provide recommendations to management regarding enhancements to the control environment and governance structure. + Document business processes, risks, internal controls, and testing procedures in accordance with the department’s framework and documentation requirements. + Provide continuous training, guidance, and consulting to management regarding risk identification, assessment, management, and mitigation. + Perform various financial audits as needed, identify deviations, and report results. + Complete key controls testing as needed based on capacity in support of MAR compliance. In addition to the above responsibilities, the Senior Risk Advisor should: + Proactively identify and communicate risks to the business and Audit leadership timely. + Independently lead walkthroughs, perform testing, and develop consulting/audit plans. + Provide recommendations to balance risk mitigation with organizational efficiencies. + Produce high-quality, coherent audit reports. + Communicate effectively and professionally to management, peers, and business partners. **Hiring Requirements** + Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, risk management, internal controls, consulting, etc.; OR + Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in auditing, risk management, internal controls, consulting, etc. + At least one of the following professional certifications: CPA, CIA, or similar designation **Hiring Preferences** + Big Four/public accounting experience + Experience in business combinations/acquisitions/purchase accounting + Experience in ICFR, MAR, SOX, and/or COSO + Experience in insurance, health insurance, investments, statutory accounting & reporting + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.) **Salary Range** At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed.
