Sr Salesforce Engineer

      

Description

The Sr Salesforce Engineer is a technical system engineering expert that brings passion, enthusiasm, and a growth mind-set to Thrivent’s Engineering Culture. They are a trusted expert, who applies business, industry, and technical knowledge of assigned assets, domains, platforms, technologies, and vendors.

They are responsible for implementation, execution, and maintenance of technology solutions to mitigate risk and drive business results. This includes providing design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy and expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business. They will determine specifications, plan, design, and develop business critical technology solutions, utilizing appropriate engineering processes - either individually or in concert product team(s).

This role will be a key part of the product team of Practice Development within the Incentive & Practice Growth portfolio. The Practice Development product aims to empower advisors and their teams through experiences that allow them to grow and strategically develop their practice from inception to succession. It exists with the goal of unlocking the full potential of advisors as business owners by delivering a holistic experience, which supports the building, growing, and transitioning stages of practice management anchored by optimized channel support and growth.

         

          

The Sr. Salesforce Engineer will have accountability to deliver Sales Cloud functionality within and across the Salesforce Platform (B2C and B2E), as well as integrations with external systems. This person is responsible for designing, building, unit testing, implementation, and maintenance of functionality that meets the needs identified by business partners. Successful candidates will have experience guiding and mentoring others, a successful track record delivering complex implementations leveraging broad knowledge of the Salesforce and associated capabilities. Candidates will possess strong technical skills with a specific emphasis on JavaScript and Lightning Web Components development.

Position Roles / Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Solution Architecture / Systems Design

Identify and translate conceptual needs into executable design and delivery.  Partner with the PO to determine technical feasibility, sequencing, story refinement and epic /release planning to guide the development team.Define and develop solutions that ensure alignment with industry best practices, technical strategies, and priorities.Consistent and dependable in delivering core technology solutions that deliver outcomes and meets/exceeds the teams expectations for stability, scalability, resilience, etc.

Application Implementation & Maintenance

Implement functionality using approved standards and change management processes.Ability to perform unit testing on code and coordinate with Quality Assurance Engineers on functional and performance testing both in Salesforce and other applications.Provide support for service requests, routine maintenance, and general support activities.Continuously assess technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software

Leadership/Building Talent

Provide guidance to junior engineers helping them learn foundational engineering skills.Provide domain expertise on software products in their area to junior engineers to help them learn/grow their skills and contribute as part of the team.Provide technical expertise and help the team to solve technical/software issues.Actively participate in the technology community through forums, events, and/or open-source or personal project contributions.Model an environment focused on continuous improvement, exceptional employee engagement, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. Shape and/or support a culture that represents the Thrivent purpose, promise and values, ensuring that Thrivent’s trust and reputation remain strong with its clients.Engage in the tech community to build the Thrivent technology brand and position as the employer of choice in the market.

Position Qualifications

5-7 years experience in the Salesforce engineering environment, taking abstract concepts and ideas to formulate a detailed software engineering plan to deliver within software development life cycle (SDLC) practicesExtensive knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud required.  Experience working in an Agile project team environment, working directly with product owners, peer engineers, dev team, and business partners.Ability to develop using Apex Classes, Apex triggers, Batch Apex, JavaScript, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visual Force (VF Pages), SOQL and SOSL.Experience working with Salesforce customizations, workflow approvals, flow, process builder, and Data loader.1-3 years recent work experience in several of the following integration technologies: Java, REST/SOAP API, Spring Boot, Mongo DB, Confluent Kafka, Change Data Capture, Platform Events, OpenShift, Docker, TC Server, Messaging Queues (RabbitMQ, IBM MQ).Experience with CI/CD DevOps including using tools such as: Visual Studio Code, Salesforce CLI, Git, Bitbucket, and Jira.Ability to troubleshoot the Salesforce platform: sharing and visibility, bulk DML operations, Apex, callouts, etc.Salesforce Admin and Developer certifications preferred.Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly around technical documentation.Ability and desire to learn new technologies and development tools.A creative mindset to apply innovative approaches to software design.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $118,105.00 - $159,788.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
