This role will be based in Sunnyvale, CA Productivity Engineering is responsible for Enterprise Business Applications, Cloud and internally developed applications which enable productivity and Business Applications at LinkedIn. Productivity Engineering Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) at LinkedIn fill the critical role of ensuring that our complex, enterprise business applications are healthy, monitored, automated, and designed to scale. You will use your background as an operations generalist to work closely with our development teams from the early stages of design all the way through identifying and resolving production issues. The ideal candidate will be passionate about an operations role that involves deep knowledge of both the applications and the products and will also believe that automation is a key component to operating large-scale systems. We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to make a real impact on our production and development operations and in managing our database and middleware platforms. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for evaluation and implementation of new database and application use cases, performance tuning, integrating Applications between on-premises and multi-cloud architecture (Azure and other SaaS providers) leveraging re-architecture and transformation, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution across complex application environments. Responsibilities: - Serve as the primary point of contact responsible for overseeing the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more of our financial application services. - Act as an expert in the services, providing guidance to development teams on the capabilities of Oracle and Azure Cloud services. - Develop tools to enhance our ability to deploy and monitor Oracle ERP, Vertex, and custom home-grown applications rapidly in both on-premises and multi-cloud environments. - Ensure that the services are designed to scale effectively with resiliency, performance, and security considerations. - Assist in the rollout and deployment of new product features and installations to facilitate rapid iteration and continual growth. - Identify and implement innovative and modern platform engineering approaches to complex and legacy applications. - The individual should be able to look at the big picture in platform engineering and be able to develop a well optimized solution to address business critical needs. - Thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. - Participate in a 24x7 rotation for second-tier escalations. Basic Qualifications: - BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience. - 4+ years of industry experience. - Experience with Oracle ERP/Fusion operations, performance tuning, and capacity planning. - Experience with Cloud Infrastructure (Azure and other SaaS providers). - Administration of Oracle 19c Database with hands-on experience on implementation high availability & disaster recovery with Oracle Grid, Data Guard, etc. - Hands-on experience in Oracle EBS R12, Fusion middleware, Apache Talend, Tax Engine Vertex handling issues related to database & application performance tuning. - Experience with web-based Java/J2EE architectures and JVM configuration. - Experience with working in environments compliant with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) regulations Preferred Qualifications: - 4+ years of experience working in DevOps or software development. - 4+ years of experience with troubleshooting in Unix/Linux, network, or Windows. - Experience working in an SRE organization managing and maintaining systems and applications. - Ability to implement the site reliability engineering concepts to meet desired SLA/SLO/SLI and build the resilient Database and Application platforms at scale. - 2+ years programming experience in one of the following (Python, Perl, Shell Scripting). - Previous experience with containerizing legacy workloads. - Experience of telemetry service architectures such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, Azure Log Analytics. - Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes services, docker, etc. - Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and IIS is a plus. - Strong interpersonal communication skills with an ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse, team-focused environment. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
